Do too many experimental tracks make an album a mere collection of songs???

No. But too many styles in the one album makes. It is not right that one track is happy hardcore, one track is discohouse, one track is techhouse, then one track with synthpop influents, couple of trancetracks, one electrotrack... Too many styles.

Yeah, there's one thing having variety - it's another to lack direction.

I guess this is where different opinions come in...an album is for me a collection of the songs of an artist. whether the album ahs a clear line going through or just shows many unlike experiments is up to the artists IMO

I don't think there's anything wrong with the odd "randomized", experimental album. AOL and Sheffield didn't really have "a clear line" going through them. But when 3 albums in a row are like this, getting progressively more random with each release, for me, it's time to start worrying. It shows this lack of direction.

And on top of all this is the covering issue which was mentioned earlier in this topic. For many fans, this also shows up a lack of direction or ideas.

TSTE was no random album. it's one of their bests ever. and apart from the last 3 tracks there was that kind of line visible

As i said, the 3 albums are, in my opinion, progessively more random. I.e. TSTE being the least, WGTLLN being the most.

The use of crowd noises was a good way of linking the tracks together on TSTE but i'm not sure i could accurately describe to you exactly what sound TSTE has running through it, certainly not in the way i can describe the sound in BTTHWJ or Wicked.

TSTE was NOT random in any way. It was clear that the theme was the trance a the time with a scooter twist. That album flowed like no other, i dont know what you are smoking.

Trance? Maria, Weekend, Take A Break, Roll Baby Roll, Liquid Is Liquid, A Little Bit Too Fast and The Night are trance? We must be listening to a different TSTE. Over half the album is not trance.

trance influenced for sure. like hypa said is DEF trance. anyway my point was that the songs all had a feel to them, same styles for the most part.

More so than MTG and WGTLLN, i'll give you that. But that "feel" isn't as obvious as in albums like BTTHWJ or Wicked. I'd say TSTE had a dual feel to it, the more techno influenced tracks vs. the trancey ones. It was certainly quite a hard album for the most part.

I don't really know whether TSTE is trancy influenced or not, this is even not so important, TSTE still has that Scooter feeling, I think there is a red line connecting all songs and also order of songs makes them great, starting with powerful Maria and concluding with one of the best instrumentals.

It's one of their best albums, although it has many ripped parts, it's still a good unity, but MTG and WGTLLN not.As already mentioned, MTG is a mixture of too many styles, too many different songs, it's one of their worst albums, it looks unfinished and made in few days.Ok, I'm exaggerating, but my point is clear.

WGTLLN is for me better than MTG, it reminds more on an album as does MTG, tracks are similar (too similar) and style is repetitive, but it's still closer to a Scooter album as MTG is.

For me.

You want them to evolve? Well, why not a Hardstyle-track then. But i know already, you would not be happy then either.

I would. And btw, weren't Maņana and Habanera in some sort hardstyle?

But what I make up from your post is that you still think that we hate Scooter wich is not true. We still like them, but we think that they changed in a negative way. I'm not gonna put all the arguments here again, if you want to know that then read the S.O.S topic. And please try to understand why we are concerned about Scooter. We are NOT here to ruin this forum, we are NOT here to show our hate or something to Scooter, we are here because we are concerned about our favorite band...

I became a fan after nessaja and joined the forum about a year ago. A few months later I saw my first live gig.

I love their music but sometimes I think the fans in this forum are too negative. :) If they are fans they should act like fans. Right? :)

And how exactly should a fan act? Obsessively love absolutely everything the band produces. Give the band the highest praise whenever possible whatever they do. Sit back and allow Scooter to become progressively more predictable and uncreative.

Look, am a Liverpool fan. If i criticise my team for a bad performance or lambast a player for not showing enough commitment, does that make me not a Liverpool fan? No, if anything it's the opposite because it shows i want my team to be doing well. Almost exactly the same applies to Scooter. I.e. Proper fans give criticism when they believe it's due. Fair enough, if you don't think Scooter can or should be criticised at the moment then that's your personal opinion, like it is mine.

Actuallay you are quite right! :)
