The REAL meaning of WGTLLN

Well its quite apparent to me now, that Scooter really does have the Last Laugh. I mean look at it. With the coming of the new DVD they leave out the best stuff, but low and behold PEOPLE WILL STILL BUY IT. I think the title of the last album was their way of saying WE have the last laugh when it comes to people buying EVERYTHING we put out. Im really fed up with scooter. They are putting out shit stuff and making money in the process. I dont blame this ALL on Jay and the 3rd chapter, i rather like everything up to MTG, but now its getting ridiculous. I think its time to call it quits, this is getting ridiculous!

I disagree. It was just a spontaneous title HP got from some old movie and the guys thought it was good too, and they used it. :D I don't think they are purposefully doing things that displease some fans and then laughing at how some people still like them.
I don't think they are putting out sh1t stuff, I like the 3rd chapter / newest stuff the best.
 This is a signature.

I don't think they used that title deliberately in the way that scooterusa is saying but the irony is becoming sweeter (or more painful depending on how you look at it) with every day that passes and with every "product" released.

Ohhh dear!

I have to disagree - while I think some of the best stuff is missing from the DVD what is there is still very very good!

Of course I am a bit dissapointed - but I am still looking forward to the DVD - what is it Sebastian said - "the best DVD of the year"? - well I think it will be the best DVD since Encore - even with the missing tracks.

I don't think that the title means anything at all - and I think they are dedicated to what they do, and care very much about their music.

In the case of the DVD I think it is a "victim of technology". I think WGTLLN is one of the best Scooter albums - I was listening to it today - and I just love it!

If you don't my friend then I am genuinely sorry to hear that :( , but the discussion about the DVD content should not be in any way confused wth the discusssion about the music in my opinion. I loved every single track of the concerts - but for me the Instrumental track was amoungst the very best - but I guess for the "general public" it isn't.

The third chapter has produced some great tracks - just as good as the first and second in my opinion :) , if not better.

But to suggest they are deliberatley kind of "taking the piss" with the album title is way off track in my opinion

My opinion

In my opinion WGTLLN is just a kind of shout to all people who tried to say that scooter never will have succes for longer than a view years. Now after 12 Years they have the right and can be proud of that what they have done and are still doing. And you can see it very clear at the music that they are not just producing the next best shit and know that every one will buy it!Track after Track the quality is getting better and they are producing whith such many new sounds and are really enjoiing and living this music like not many people in this buisness. Just look at the WGTLLN ...After The Stadium Techno Experience I thaught that they never ever will top this album ....but with the last album the did. One Track better than the other. The Tracks Scooter produced in third chapter were better than the most tracks before and i am glad to look after the next great Track they will realise . This is never the less not the last point why i will buy the dvd. There are some tracks missing and i am very sad about that either but allthough you must look at the rest of the dvd.....so many great tracks and performances...canīt believe that someone whoīs part of the Scooterposse is critizising the dvd so hard and says that they donīt care about the tracklist because everyone will buy it.

Ok, to be serious. I thought the same many times already, but I can live with it. And actually I don't care about releases, since I don't buy every little piece. I'll go get the DVD anyway of course...
I also realized that Scooter has had their "special" marketing  for years now. But I just don't care, 'cause after the concert @ the WGTLLN tour, I know that they still have their power and magic :) At least in live for sure.
However, I liked WGTLLN too.

Maybe it wasnīt the meaning at first, but now, I agree scooterusa. Itīs in what the title has became.

And I have another question. What about the title EXCESS ALL AREAS? How we are gonna excess any area when the main area (the concert) is cut???

The excess is what they have done to us with the DVD!!!

That's a good point. They should have named the DVD 'Excess Some Areas'

Access is not Excess ! and you should know that. The title has as much to d with the content as eskimos are related to the Sahara desert. Really.

Err... you do understand the meaning of the word "Pun", don't you? Because that's what the Excess All Areas title is... a pun.

I.e. > Access All Areas = Get a look at every aspect of the band in concert

Excess > Taking things to an "over-the-top" level, to an extreme level

That's why they have chosen it - the pun gives the title a double meaning (even if it does sound really bad IMHO - as it's a pretty dodgey pun).

I didn't need to be present when Scooter decided on the title to realize that the title is an obvious pun.

Puns are a common convention in most languages - excuse me for being able to recognise one in my own native language.

Indeed. It's quite far-fetched (again) to assume that Scooter purposefully chose a title that could work as such a pun. (That isn't even a good pun in my opinion.) Why would they do that, seriously? Most likely they just chose a title that sounded good to them, title that would have kinda reference to them: they've conquered the world in about ten years and still going strong and full speed. Not many electronic bands have such a popularity. The title isn't probably that good English, I think, but can't be sure since it's not my native language as it's not Scooter's native language, either.

A funny thought which got not much to with this but still. Some of the titles don't make much sence when you start thinking and translating them into your own language. For example "Kuinka paljon kala maksaa?".

Why is it far-fetched? They wanted to give the DVD an interesting title so they've chosen one with a double meaning. I.e. Excess is similar to Access > Access All Areas refers to the notion of "having a backstage pass for a concert" or something > Excess means taking things to an extreme. Admittedly, it's a bad pan but it's a pun.

Excess All Areas on it's own just doesn't make sense. It's really bad English. If they wanted it to make grammatical sense they would have called it "Excessive In All Areas" or something. Scooter aren't stupid - they're experienced when it comes to the English language - they wouldn't have picked a title that doesn't really make sense if it didn't have some kind of double, punned meaning.

It's like the title - Trance-Atlantic. Again punned meaning > Trance sounds like Trans > Trans-Atlantic means to travel across the Atlantic, creating images in the mind of vast open stretches of ocean, and smooth movements across it > Trance describes the genre. Great title, deliberately chosen for double meaning.

What is so far-fetched and hard to understand? Je-sus!

maybe they chose the title to freak out their british fans

wake up! Scooter are a German band, and the came out big in germany, their label is in germany, the DVD is first published in germany, the songs are originally made for german people who don't care about english grammar. man, don't take their decisions personally
