Thanks so much I'm raving for helping me out.
I have gotten back my Windows CD and I don't dare to put it in to repair... If it gets installed, I'll lose all my files, right ?

If you just install windows, you won't lose any of your files. (normally) But DONT format!!!

Yesterday we had a power-cut at work because South-West England was hit by some of the strongest winds and quickest rainfall in a short time ever. It only lasted 20 minutes, in fact, as I was telling customers that we had to close the power came on.

Well, as some of you know I applied for a Steward (Lufthansa) and today I had my interview in Frankfurt. The Interview consisted of 3 parts:

1. Working in a group (teamwork)
2. english test
3. interview itself

1 and 3 worked perfect but the english test was unbelievable difficult. Lufthansa claims that even native english speakers are not able to make the test without mistakes.
I am sure my english knowledge is very good (at least I think so) but the test was damn difficult and I am not sure wheather I will pass or not. I even got no feeling about the result of thest, I am very unsure about how good or bad I was at the test.
The bad thing is that you can be brilliant at 1 and 3 but If you fail at the english test you will not get the job. And thats my problem, I was fantastic in 1 and 3 but the english test could be the end of my dream
At least I try to be optimistic till Lufthansa will inform me within the next days wheather I am one of them or not.

I was not the only one who had problems with the english test. There was a guy who worked for United Airlines (he is american) and even he said that the test was very hard. When listening to an american guy who's native language is english and he says that even for him the test was difficult destroys much of your hope. When an english speaking guy from the states is not able to make the test without mistakes and saying it was very difficult for him even he is american than I have to ask you: how will a foreign person (english not native language) be able to pass the test when even native speakers of the english language had to fight with the test ...

Now I have to wait and hope

In germany we use to say "Hope Dies Last"

this is me well dressed for the interview ;-)

Good luck :) I hope you get it

your written English is pretty close to perfect so you should have a good chance :) From what I have seen around international forums some non-native English speakers are even better than native speakers - and I wish you every success :)

I hope you get your dream job :)

Many Thanks Sandra,

the english test was a multiple choice test.

Here is a good example. I have no clue abou the meaning nore the right answer. this one was very hard for me

Quoted

Statement from Jim to Maria: I would make it in "addition" but I am not good at/in _____

a. figures
b. counters
c. math
d. equations

Sorry, but this is way too much for me
I mean, A, C and D would fit very well. They all have to to with addition (math related ... at least I think so) so it is very difficult to choose. Finnaly I guessed.

Only one answer is right. During the test I fall into deep despair

Good luck, hope you get the job, Luthfansa itīs the second world wide airline, we are talking about one of the most successful companies of the world, so the test gotta be so hard, i think the only fact that you have the chance to get it on itīs a thing to be so proud of it, so donīt be worry about...

I renember when i went to an exam to get into the spanish tribute agency (IRS), 13.000 people and i finally get the 356th best qualify...there were only 53 employes ( itīs right this word?) but i feel so nice about my position.

BTW i canīt get VIVA at my restaurant, the anthene is no able to get the right orientation, so i have to put down my arms...game over...

yes, I was there with my girlfriend, my mother and my two younger brothers. I think the first warmup act was decent in a way (similar to what we heard in Hamburg in april), but the second one - that was embarassing IMO :S they had 2 or 3 guys just randomly jumping around on the stage, doing nothing else but that. It seemed they had no plan what to do there but fool around. And their songs were horrible. Plus they had WAY too many people on stage at the same time.

I think i rember seeing you in the underground station

I thought they were funny, their songs wern't wonderful but they did make me laugh when 5 of them just came runnig on at once, but i think it was too many, as you said, 3 of them were just fooling around.

I liked the second warm-up act a lot, nothing wrong with them in my opinion. The first one on the other hand -- pure Kook and Roxxy class, if you know what I mean...

I had the same feeling, the second band was funny because they promoted Scooter in their songs and even sung Scooter parts.

it seemed like they didn't have a plan when performing on stage, they were just too busy making asses of themselves

I had a car accident a few days ago. I lost control of my car in the wet around a turn and spun into a fire hydrant and through someones fence. The police came and breath tested me and checked out the scene to make sure it was an honest accident and not idiocy. They told me it was all good and left. I have to pay for my car which surprisingly is only $550. The fence will be around $1,200. And I don't have to pay for the fire hydrant. Phew. The most important thing is that I or anyone else was not hurt.

However on the same day a good friend of mines sister had an accident too. She came off worse than me. Her car was written off and she had to have 30 stitches in her head. She will be okay but thank god she walked away with her life..
