Well, last year in August I had infection in my ears and that was pretty tricky disease really... I took antibitics to it but still it took a month to get over it. In December it was just "normal" flu with no fever etc. I was at work and everything but for some reason it took very long to get over it that time too. And now I just got healhty of one flu that took 3 weeks... But no fever just the "normal" flu. It can take very long time sometimes to get totally healthy.

But yeah, Iäm very curoius to see how bad the H1N1 will be... :whistling: I'll get it for sure 'cause there are thousands of people at the Uni and the all all kind of viruses you really cannot resist.

With no eating for couple of days the flu will be over for sure 'cause I'll die of hunger! :D :D :D

It's interesting to observe you wrestling with the contemplation of the H1N1 Influenza virus, yet you are suspiciously reluctant to discuss the idea of God. What makes this question any more relevant to this 'Scooter' forum than the most profound human striving in history? Additionally, why did you implement the whistling smiley? This isn't a question of avoidable taboo, it has ramifications for a fair few of us.

I've been studying the Influenza virus from the vantage point of a layman for a few years; leaving me well aware of the risk factors of its unique properties to mutation. Although we're knowledgeable of this mutational paroxysm, we still seem quizzically surprised when the spike-like (HA & NA) proteins on the individual virion surface transmogrify to become something immunologically unrecognisable. Fortuitously, the mortality rate has yet to evolve into a lethal state that keeps us awake at night; the situation as far as I can tell is under relatively stable control. That's not to say that we'll see ourselves in a dangerously precarious state in the near future. As long as you're not afflicted with any threatening underlying health difficulties, you should recover within the usual time. From the information I've obtained regarding the outbreak of H1N1 in 1918 to 1919, it wasn't actually the virus itself that harboured the lethality, but the complications that arose from the proliferation of an otherwise friend;y bacteria in the respiratory system.

What fascinates me about this picturesque micro-organism, is its intricate tendency to acquire the genes from other strains to achieve this marvellous degree of versatility. Alongside this flexibility is the method in which it sustains a link of survival through enduring the hostile conditions of the normal atmosphere to pass from one person to the next. Suspended in microscopic droplets of mucus, we unknowingly inhale it into our vulnerable lungs. Its morbidity rate can only increase, given that every major city in the world is within a 24-hours distance from each other. Our remarkable steps forward in air travel have only doubled our vulnerability to the invisible enemy. Strange paradox, that.

Swine flu has now officially reached the epidemic level in The Netherlands :S (but an epidemic starts when more than 50 people from 100.000 people have the same disease, so still it's rather under controll)

I'd also like to have the vaccination but I won't get it. I don't belong to any risk group so I just have to get sick. ;( Those people who would get the vaccination don't wanna take it. :cursing: That makes me angry. X(

I won't take the vaccination even if I could get it, the vaccination is according to some experts also not entirely safe........ :S

Well, I don't know... Some people say it's not safe some people say it is... Don't know how it is then... But I would probably take it, yes, if it was possible. But it isn't so I don't need to think about it that much... But I have to think about what to do with my kids...

I doubt they would have sent out the vaccine to be taken, if it wasn't safe :whistling:

Anyhow, my dad's gonna get it tomorrow, and my sister and I later this week.

Stop whining about the prioritization policy of the vaccination programme, and undertake other effective measures of minimizing the risk of infection. The only impression you're flaunting right now is someone of whom is plagued by an irrecoverable degree of misanthropy. Learn to deal with the reality of Influenzas perpetual antigenic shifting, otherwise you'll forever remain in a state of panic.

And, to be quite honest with you, I'm getting a little fed up of people attempting to discuss a topic whose knowledge is primarily derived from the national media. Here's a suggestion, initialize plans to begin your own research, that way you'll feel allot more comfortable about the situation and make everyone else's life a hell of a lot easier. All it takes is a little common sense and responsibility, but ungrateful citizens - such as yourself - are determined to get inoculated with a vaccine to which you don't fully comprehend. With the knowledge necessary, you'll come to the conclusion that vaccination could in fact be a rather futile effort, particularly for those that are boastful of full health.

if you're for the vaccination initiative, please explain what led you toward it. It's time to bring some real thought to this board!

Care to elaborate on that? I have witnessed a women in the United States who received the vaccination formula, only to then subsequently suffer from a now incurable neurological disorder that renders her incapable of walking and utilizing speech.

Any other examples that will enable you to substantiate that?

I'm not in panic. ;) Just a bit worried about the disease. I don't have any need to talk about the virus more here. It's already epidemic so the only thing we can do is really washing our hands and trying to be not spreading the virus.
