Finnish posse! I could need some help.

In my exam in 11 days I must talk about the Finnish school system. I read various texts about it and I think I know quite a lot but it would be nice to hear something from Finnish students personally.

What is school like there? I mean the school system but also the lessons.

What is good or bad? What do you like and not like?

What languages did you learn and when did you start with each?

Which subjects are over- or underrepresented?

Is there maybe also somebody studying at university? Maybe even for becoming a teacher?

It would really be nice to have some reactions.

-You go to school in the age of 6
-You have to be in schools 9 years and after that you can decide what to do. After this Comprehensive school you can go either Senior High School or School which educate you for some job.
-Good in finnish schools are meny-sided educating and free meals. Also studying is free in Finland.
-Bad is that In second grade schools you have to buy your books. (for example Senior High School) and ofcourse our school food is really bad
-You start to study your first language in the 3rd grade. It can be English, German or Swedish. (These are the most popular but you can take some other language too if it is possible. Usually people take English for their fisrt language) In 5th grade you can take one laguage more, usually people take German for their second language. Because Finland has 2 offial languages, we have to start to study Swedish in 7th grade... When you go to Senior High School you can take more languages there... :)
-As I said most popular subjects are languages... I don't know what are underrepresented...

I hope someone else could come to write something about Finnish schools. I'm not good in this... :(

What about the lessons? Are the teachers doing good jobs?
I forgot to ask about the teachers? What do you think could improve there?

At least I've had teachers who have done their job pretty well. There's still few strangers there too: one guy got mad everyday in school and sometimes even hurted us. He shouted a lot and almost hit me with a chair once... Few times he took someone's wrist and hurted it. But those kind of idiots can be anywhere, the strangest thing is that even our parents told the school to do something for that teacher so they knew about that idiot, but they did nothing until the year was over.
Most of the teachers know what their doing, at least in higher grades.

I think the teacher thing is mainly pretty well here, some students just like to be like they hate teachers. I was like that a few years ago too but not anymore cause I understand that being a teacher isn't so easy sometimes.

One more thing: There's many people here who hates swedish and/or that we must study swedish. Oh well, I don't hate swedish at all but it would be great if we would be able to decide do we study it or not. Well it's not my problem for too long anymore so I don't mind :P

Argh, I don't know what would write here anymore and there is a lot of text that probably doesn't help at all. I'm not good at this. Well I hope I helped you at least a little. Good luck :)
I'm out
