I still think it's a bad choice.
Okay it was the fan's favourite, but a single is not intended to please fans but to promote the album.
And speaking about that : non-fans are likely to think that it's the exact same style they were making 4 years ago, and that it's getting old.
The content in itself is not interesting : the cover is pretty basic. The radio edit is AWKWARD, they removed the second verse and poorly cut some parts, the result is cheap. The original album version, even if I didn't like it, at least had a proper structure. The dubstyle version...well you can't just put a dubstep break into a hardstyle track and call it dubstyle ! Dubstyle is normally a style in itself, basically dubstep with hardstyle kicks. The extended version is based on the radio edit, which makes it lose all its energy. And for those who may complain that there's no club mix of this, just listen to "I survived" by The Hose and there you go !
As for the video, obviously, it's cliché as hell ! HP waving his arms in front of the camera while lipsyncing the song with Rick and Michael standing still behind him, a drive in a car in the city, studio footage, STI excerpts...how many times have we seen this recipe before ? Did we really need another one like that ?
Concerning the performance at the dome : wow, playback, what a surprise... But I have to admit that, despite a ridiculous performance, the track seems to work well on the crowd so it will sure be a highlight of the next tour.

Tent to agree with Nostalgeek... It's not the best choice and the radio edit is worse than the album version. It is weak... Not to mention the lack of a b-side. I'm waiting for the next album -- I don't care about the singles if there are no b-sides and only minimal changes to the song, compared to how it was before -- and not too long ago.

The radio edits are always bad the last years. When i remember how they changed Call Me Manana, Fkck The Millennium and Aiii Shot the DJ to even more brilliant tracks.

I think that's the main reason indeed, because the recent albums are full of "single sound" tracks so to speak. It was the case on TUAO, UTROTT and now on TBMU. In the past it was totally different. And the album had more sort of album tracks, and in order to make one into a single, Scooter sometimes almost made a new track out of it, in many parts. Actually Scooter did that with the last 2 singles from JAOTW, so it seems the quick released album with maybe tracks 90% finished, made it possible for Scooter to add a great part for the single release, just look at JAOTW single version, or I'M LONELY single version. The last is totally reworked and the first has a major extra C-part in it which enheances the track to another level :)

Album versions were unfinished, and the rework for single version completed them.
The same can't be said now, though I myself consider the album to be unfinished to a certain degree.

I don't think those old album versions sound unfinished at all, just that the singles were very different. They took the main idea of the track and made it even better. I think the old albums sound more completed than the new ones, in a way.

I agree with you. They don't sound at all unfinished to me. I like the difference between album and singles of album tracks - I like both :)

This week I have received my own copy of the new single.
I listened to the web release. I think this single doesn't give us any "new" stuff. It is just a cut album version.
I don't like the video, I don't know why, it is boring in my opinion. And I don't like the hardstyle part of the song because it is STOLEN from The Hose - I Survived. :( I really loved this music since 2008, it is one of my favourite hardstyle tracks.
I hope that there will be even in the future a good Scooter track without steals and it will hit.

Stay tuned, posse!

By the way, did you notice that the year '2012' instead '2011' is printed on the physical release?

If you study Scooter you will know MOST of their tracks contain a rip of some kind in EVERY chapter.

They have said that their favoured way of working, is sampling and ripping. It will never end, they will go on with this way of working as long as they are in the music biz.

Yeah, they've said that often already and now with the album title TBMU they again sent people that message that this is the way they worked, work and will work. It's clear that this is the way they want to work, so if someone has problems with it, than too bad, but it won't change. So those people that hate Scooters way of working should realize that, and when they cant live with it, well, than maybe it's not the right band for them.

I understand the criticism, it is stealing. But as long as they rearrange the stolen parts instead of copying them, it's apparently ok, and when it's their chosen way of working, no one can make them change their minds.

I also understand the critics, but well, noone is forced to be a fan. So the people that hate that way of working should really think if they want to remain a fan or not. It has no sense to make a black atmosphere and trying to convince other people to think like they, the critics, think. Everyone has it;s own opinion, and when one is ok with the way Scooter work, than good, when not than not. It's everyones own decision. But some people seem to remain fans, but that the entire time with a bad taste in the mouth, so I ask myself why those critics in that case dont stop being fans. I think the answer is simple, because in the end they, the critics, generally do like what Scooter make, although they dont like the way it was made (ripping and co). So in the end the end result is strong enough to yet let most critics remain fans on some level ;)

Scooterworld, you are totally right. You have written my feelings about "being a fan".
I think I am not a big fan - I was 3-4 years ago.
I am still interested in their music and I listen to most of them. But sometimes I have that bad taste in my mouth. And I am interested in collecting their releases (of course in physical format).
I listen to a lot of underground music, but the only band I like in the commercial music scene is Scooter. Steals disturb me only when I know the original tracks, for example the original hardstyle tracks (J'adore Hardcore, Ti Sento, Stuck On Replay, C'est Bleu...).
But I like re-worked tracks very much, for example Summer Dream. The hardstyle melody is not ripped from another hardstyle song (as I know...). So they did not copy (more precisely steal) it.

Finally got the single. A weird thing occured to me when I was grabbing the CD into MP3 today. Don't know if it has been discussed before.

The CD-TEXT data of the disc contained this:

Artist: Harde Smart
Single Title: Laat Mij Maar Alleen
Release Date: 1995
Genre: National Folk

Tracklist:
01 Laat Mij Maar Alleen
02 Zuur

I looked, and found out that this is really an existing 2-track release (see here). Of course my CD contained C'est Bleu normally, no faults in the tracks or anything, just this CD-TEXT data. I wonder if they screwed up with the CDDB-identifiers of the release.
Did any of you encounter this?

Oh, and why is the CD print and booklet saying © 2012 ? :P
