TSTE: Overrated??

Hi

In part I just want to rub people up the wrong way with this thread. I like this album a lot, but personally I do think it's overrated. People talk of it like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Here are my opinions of the album on a track by track basis. See what you think

Ignition:

Cheesy, but who cares it's just an intro

Maria

Stupid stupid song. Ok it has got a certain amount of energy, and HPs rapping is a good deal better than it is nowadays, but I've never really liked the dub dub dubbing Scooter's famous for. Also it's a cover

Weekend

One of Scooter's worst songs ever made. The HPV chorus is excruciating, and HPs lyrics have only become famous due to the fact that they're some of the most ridiculous things to have ever been uttered in a pop song. Not to mention this was Scooter's first song where basically the entire thing was ripped.

Take A Break

Have a kit-kat. Nah just joking. The verses are lovely, with great rapping from HP, and I love the fact that one minute in you realize it's a dance remix of When Johnny Comes Marching Home.

Pulstar

A perfect instrumental. Scooter does justice and actually improves upon the Vangelis classic. Love the addition of the HPV chorus too

The Night

The only single from this album that I like. Shame the single version's about twice as good as the album one. I really miss the piano melody and c-part from the single when I hear this version.

Roll Baby Roll

Abba classic Arrival remixed and given the Scooter treatment. Scooter do a bang up job too. This is really a feel good song.

Level One

I think we all know where this melody comes from now. It's from a game called Turrican 2, hence the name of the song. But Scooter does an incredible job of turning it into a trance classic.

Like Hypa Said

I love the trance build-up. And HPs lyrics fit it perfectly, proving you can rap to a trance song. But wtf's with the vocal melody. It's like they just shoehorned some gospel sh*t in there that doesn't go with the rest of the song because they couldn't be bothered creating or finding anything better. Also the song starts to wear on me after a while and has really outstayed its welcome by the 6 minute mark.

Liquid is Liquid

F*cking boring is all I can say. I guess it's based on a boring song though so what can you expect.

A Little Bit Too Fast

This one's got a lot of energy, and I love it when the bass comes in at 2:15. The vocal sample really starts to sh*t me after a while though. Otherwise it's basically a filler track

Soultrain

Rick outdoes himself again. Superb trance track that puts people like Tiesto to shame.

Overrated? 8| Did you hear yourself? You really are out of your freakin' mind. In this album are collected one of the best songs and instrumentals which no one is lame or low! I don't know your taste of trane music but it's really messed up! As for now 3rd chapter was the best ever followed by the 2nd chapter! And if you asking me Tiesto have to be shamed from Rick cuz Soultrain is the best trance track I ever heard! Just take a break please! :pinch:

TSTE is a huge album and a great one, but I have to admit it's a bit overrated by many fans. But I guess it all depends on personal taste. I personally like for example WGTLLN far more than TSTE, but still love TSTE though, but not on the level that I mention it often regarding the sound I would wish for on the new album. :) But I love the fact that TSTE has a sort of flow from one track into another. I just wished there were more vocal tracks of HP on it, but that's personal ofcourse. But it has the awesome Like Hypa Said & Roll Baby Roll on it and the awesome Soultrain, so yes, I love it, but it's not the best Scooter album ever made IMO ;) :)

TSTE isnt overrated at all. It belongs to their best albums theyve ever done. Almost the entire track list consists of brilliant tunes. Vocal tracks such as The Night, Like Hyper said or Roll Baby roll are are tunes with a huge scooter spirit, very catchy and perfectly produced. Instrumentals such as A little bit to fast or Liquid is Liquid are brilliant.
TSTE is the album with the most tracks I like. There are only 2 songs i dont like on this album. All tracks from this album released as a single entered the Top 10. (Weekend #2, Maria #4, The Night #10). I wonder why they did not release more tracks from this album.

TSTE (and BTTHWJ) are a masterpiece in scooters album history.

I don't like The Night that much, but the rest is awesome.
Liquid Is Liquid is a bit weird, though

I think it's one of the best Scooter albums. But that's just my opinion, and that doesn't make it "overrated" I think.
You don't like the tracks, I do. Fair thing.

Liquid Is Liquid is one of my fav instrumentals from them, but mainly 'cause I loved the original too :)

Dude, you're so pathetic for taking that much time to bash Scooter's greatest achievement!
You are just as ugly as Michael Simon is, you sure you ain't one of his 8 cousins?

F*&^ing Idiot.

PS: Soultrain is a track made solely by Juergen Frosch, you F*&^ing Idiot.

What, just because you waste so much of your pathetic miserable life spamming the forum and creating sh*tty music that nobody will ever listen to, you think you're the authority on what is good music and what isn't. It's pretty clear from my introduction that I know I'm in the minority here with regards to this album. The idea was to challenge an album that is consistently and unequivocally praised to high heaven, to see how people reacted and to see if there was anybody out there who shared my views.

Well it seems you couldn't hack it and just resorted to attacking my personally, like the lowly little egotistical maggot you are. Next time Sandra bans you, take it as a message that you need to step out from that dungeon I'm assuming you live in, hunched over your computer and go out and get a real job. I don't know what kind of welfare system they've got in Bulgaria, but I'm sure the taxpayers don't appreciate you draining the public purse to support your pitiable existence.

I like TSTE, but I see why some think it's overrated. Everyone praise TSTE to the sky, like big swanny said.
Personally, I rate it this way

1. Ignition - 7/10

2. Maria - 8/10
I'm tired of the album version, but still like the 10th Anniversary Concert, EAA and now Inferno versions.
The points go to those.

3. Weekend - 8/10

4. Take A Break - 9/10

5. Pulstar - 8/10

6. The Night - 8/10

7. Roll Baby Roll - 8/10

8. Level One - 10/10

9. Like Hypa Said - 9/10

10. Liquid Is Liquid - 7/10
Never liked it very much, but it's grown a bit on me by the years.

11. A Little Bit Too Fast - 8/10
Bassline could have been more noticable, it drowns a bit in the other sound.

12. Soultrain 7/10

97/120 - weak 5 out of 6
, after 8 years.

@ big swanney

its rated well by fans for a reason, and as said by many so far, it is one of scooter,s best albums which boasts the 3 great singles too, huge success and a good 3rd chapter starter, and still one of the albums for scooter that will be hard to beat,

i ask you, if this is over rated to you, then what is your favorite album,

Hi

In part I just want to rub people up the wrong way with this thread. I like this album a lot, but personally I do think it's overrated. People talk of it like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Here are my opinions of the album on a track by track basis. See what you think

Ignition:

Cheesy, but who cares it's just an introwell i think it has a good build up to the albums first track, i will admit, it isnt the best scooter intro by scooter, bu does the job well

Maria

Stupid stupid song. Ok it has got a certain amount of energy, and HPs rapping is a good deal better than it is nowadays, but I've never really liked the dub dub dubbing Scooter's famous for. Also it's a coverit was never a favorite of mine either, but i remember when i first herd the album and this track had one hell of a kick, and a worthy cover as the original never had the justice this one did, even with the colab by the same artists.

Weekend

One of Scooter's worst songs ever made. The HPV chorus is excruciating, and HPs lyrics have only become famous due to the fact that they're some of the most ridiculous things to have ever been uttered in a pop song. Not to mention this was Scooter's first song where basically the entire thing was ripped. completely disagree, this is one of my personal favorites from scooter behind posse (i need you on the floor), the hpv is well used and i think the rap aint so bad

Take A Break

Have a kit-kat. Nah just joking. The verses are lovely, with great rapping from HP, and I love the fact that one minute in you realize it's a dance remix of When Johnny Comes Marching Home.this is a great song, nice bassline and good energy

Pulstar

A perfect instrumental. Scooter does justice and actually improves upon the Vangelis classic. Love the addition of the HPV chorus tooa good instrumental track, not the best on this album, but i like the beats

The Night

The only single from this album that I like. Shame the single version's about twice as good as the album one. I really miss the piano melody and c-part from the single when I hear this version.this is also a popular track from the fans, also the single version is way better, but i always find myself preferring the album version more, like jumping all over the world

Roll Baby Roll

Abba classic Arrival remixed and given the Scooter treatment. Scooter do a bang up job too. This is really a feel good song. i never was a big fan of this one, but it is a good track never the less

Level One

I think we all know where this melody comes from now. It's from a game called Turrican 2, hence the name of the song. But Scooter does an incredible job of turning it into a trance classic.this is a bomb of a track, and this lenth is just right, nice work and one of my favorites too

Also the song starts to wear on me after a while and has really outstayed its welcome by the 6 minute mark.cant believe what i read here, this is without a shout the best scooter track ever created, everything about it is perfect, i would have prefered a different second verse, and maybe a little shorter, but other than that...perfect. should have been a single IMO

Liquid is Liquid

F*cking boring is all I can say. I guess it's based on a boring song though so what can you expect.i can agree here, i dont like this one much, but it aint the worst scooter track form the guys, but it is to me the worst on the album

A Little Bit Too Fast

This one's got a lot of energy, and I love it when the bass comes in at 2:15. The vocal sample really starts to sh*t me after a while though. Otherwise it's basically a filler tracki love this track, as you say the bass kick at that one point is wicked, and has a great live feel, kinda hoped they would play it at the inferno

Soultrain

Rick outdoes himself again. Superb trance track that puts people like Tiesto to shame.again i agree, a great track, and some of the best trance i have ever herd, and scooter best too, by the way, jay frog was theone who was supposed to have done this track

so you see, even the low points are high compared to some of scooters albums, and i dont think scooter have made a better album than this since it came out,
however, some of the early albums are really well made, and i still think this is the best one,

Really? :( I actually like this track. I do think it's a great album. Their best? Nope, not close. But I'd rather another TSTE than UTTROT.

@big swany - it takes 5 minutes a day to write 20 posts, duffus
and if you must know I am importing motor oils and spare parts, doing effective marketing and selling them at good prices, helping the economy. and our company is one of the few that pays all the taxes required.

I didn't even try reading your post regarding TSTE (except for the Soultrain nonsense) - whatever you have to say there is ridiculous. Attacking an album that has been praised for a reason is dumb. Very dumb. Like if you tried attacking Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon. But I admit - you received the attention you wanted.

:D Haha I gotta admit I went out on a limb to imply you were some kind of social leech.

Honestly I used to think you were just the harmless larrikin of the forum whose role it was to stir up a bit of controversy. But after your personal attack on me, I see you're much more of a miserable sod than that. Who f*cking does that anyway? It's god damn dance music. Attacking my appearance because you're so offended that I don't think as highly of an album as you do? What did mum not hug you enough as a kid or something? You've got all this bottled up anger that you need to verbally abuse people on the other side of the world through the internet?. Also take a look in a mirror, street puddle or shop window some time soon.

Also your level of hypocrisy is pretty funny. 5 minutes a day would be just scratching the surface of how much time you actually devote to this forum and everybody knows that. The amount of time you spent slagging off TUOA and JAOTW was staggering. But as soon as someone criticizes an album you hold dear, you have a sort of toddler temper tantrum. Also I find it amusing that after running the first two fourth chapter albums into the ground, you suddenly praised UTROTT when it came out as though it was a return to form for Scooter. Do you still hold that belief? If you do, state it here so we can all read it.

I'm sure you've got a lot of fans here on the forum who'll support you. Congratulations on that

Big Swanny, for a guy who attacks another dude on the forum for not having a social life, you sure know a lot about my history on the forum, my taste on scooter's music and even which albums I like and which ones I dislike.

On the other hand I know nothing about you.

Now who's the leech?

Yeah, I bash 4th chapter. 5 minutes a day, 3 years in a row.

PS: I will leave you alone in the moment you admit you were wrong about calling TSTE an overrated album. I just love the darn record way too much and I feel pure hatred at those who don't appreciate it as a dance music masterpiece.
