I also watched a movie about a year ago, and it was about when the Berlin wall was still up. An East German officer? was assigned to spy on this writer and his wife, and ended up protecting them from getting in trouble for using a typewriter and writing controversial stuff etc. It ended up being really good!

Nice and romantic comedy. And I really like Til Schweiger. Der Untergang (Downfall) should be the best german movie ever, nex to Das Boot.
You might give it a try, even if you don't like all that Nazi/H!tler stuff.
Then there is Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, which is decent, too.
Good Bye Lenin is okay.
There are many german comedies, which I can recommend.
But these are (mostly) all in german and there isn't any dub or subtitles...
If that's not a problem: Try Werner Beinhart!, Voll Normaaal, Otto - Der Film, Der Schuh des Manitu...
<---Very happy now!
I think I saw it almost 3-ish years ago... I think it was on HBO or something... It was good
That's the kind of movies they should have shown us in school, instead of the Tony Danza Berlin Wall one... I might also have seen Das Boot, but I would have to watch it again to make sure... I remember seeing a similar movie I think before...
Forget german movies! We have some really good comedians and comedy shows but not real movies.
