association of sounds with real matter

do you associate some sounds with something which at first seems a bit odd?

for example the bassline in nessaja or weekend (vec2 bass 034) sounds for me like some tires on asphalt
or this saw synth (some cutOff on the LFO) in lighten up the sky, the night etc. sounds for me like something with metal (like u whip with something against metal).

have you some other examples?

Bassline in Nessaja sounds like rubber being twisted and a diesel engine at the same time.

I am extremely visual person. I can close my eyes and imagine everything with almost perfect visual quality
I can imagine even non-existent things. I can see myself from another person's POV.

I can actually see every sound I hear. Every kick, hat, synth, bass has a shape, a feel and a color in my mind.

So do you both, Rochen and KLF, have Synesthesia? I have it too! I have sound-color synesthesia!

Isnt is Synestesia when your senses are mixed up completely?

When I said I can SEE sounds, I meant, I can see them in my mind :)

No there are different types and not all of your senses are "mixed up".

For example, when I hear sound, in my minds eye, I see certain colors and shapes. But my sense of smell, taste, sight and touch are just fine.

So do I but only when being on weed ;-) :P :whistling:

btw: scarborough reloaded sounds like a big city during night, all the lights of the town, the black sky with all the stars, a bright moon ... and all this on a cold day

That is an association.

We are talking about SEEing sounds here :)
Not what the track reminds you of. There is a difference :)

Well, do the numbers have a "taste" or "sound" or a :"color"? or "mood"?
There are 40+ different types of synesthesia, so it all depends on what senses are tied together. Also half of worlds population has synesthesia, to some degree. Some have it so minor they hardly notice it, others like me defiantly know we have it. lol

See Me, Feel me in my mind is like running through a forest, with all the colors rushing past me at night. I can almost feel the cold breeze rushing past me.

I never thought of it that way, but yea, kinda does!

See me Feel me
feels like a date with grey or blue-eyed girl on a cool night to me

Rhapsody in E makes me think of rats running in a sewer

Move Your Ass feels like the whole world is celebrating a new millenium

State of mind
feels the same way as See Me Feel Me

Soultrain feels like flying around New York in a cold night

Level One feels like autumn and loneliness

I imagine kicks as rainbow drop-shaped, thick black pieces of mass
I imagine hats as knives with no handles, just the blades
I imagine bassline as a firm pressure on a person's body

I can see Move Your Ass' main synth that plays twice in the track as a red thing, placed above our heads
I can see Move Your Ass' quiet piano as white, transparent really long drops of rain
I can see How Much is The Fish's pipe synth as a green fluid floating in the air!

the piano in coldwater canyon sounds for me like someone's shakin his hands and every time some water falls down.

& when it comes to music in general: the newer the stuff, the colder it sounds in my ears. thats why i actually <3 the old tracks most.

another thing: a fourth (interval) reminds me of the sound of the metro in st. petersburg,
a minor second reminds me of something sour.

and there are some people (but only a few) whose faces smell like human liquid excretion.

See Your Smile:
The "gotta gotta get down" part sounds like an Arabic reverend who is holding a mass.
The HPV is like a little girl who is dreaming about fantasies.

Well Done Peter:
People are having a party in a sanatorium.

Frequent Traveler:
A dog in India is asking for food.

I'll write more later cause I have a lot of associations like this. Interesting topic. ;)
