Releasing Old Album Track

Hello,

scooter produced many album tracks with a big hit potential over the years, most of the tracks where never released. Do you think it is a option for scooter to release a track of an old album, in a new updated version (like MYA Concert version 2010) with a big hit potential that was never released as a single before?

In my mind:

Roll Baby Roll (could become a summer hit)
Neverending Story
All I wanna do
Don't gimme the funk

Iam exited about your opinion

Don't Gimme The Funk
We Bring The Noise
The Leading Horse (the 2006 tour version would kick ass)
See Me Feel Me
Privileged To Witness
The United Vibe
The Sh!t That Killed Elvis (after so many discussions about it they could release it finally, to make fans happy.)
Imaginary Battle
State Of Mind
AND a new version of Where The Beats...!!! (But that could also be released on the bonus remix album that the Russian fans were talking about in the interview.)

That's all :)
Feel the energy inside!

No.

Whilst it isn't universal that artists release singles solely for promotional purposes, Scooter customarily do so for the sake of the album that the track originated. They seem to oscillate between selecting the track that is most popular from an album, or deliberate to edit the one that requires an extra bit of work to heighten its favourability. The Night serves as a good example for the latter me thinks, for it's clear from the incomplete sounding version on the album that it required that extra bit of oomph to be more likeable and servicable as a single. But it always focuses around the album to which it comes from (with a few exceptions). And I also think it's pretty clear that they've made a few miscalculations in the past; like The Sound Above My Hair and arguably Stuck On Replay being the most recent.

Therefore, I don't think Scooter have ever, and will ever, consider releasing old album tracks. Based on the two ways they operate in regards to singles, it wouldn't make any sense; for the album would be long out of circulation and the public consciousness. IMO, the only way it would be possible is if Scooter decided to re-release an old album beforehand-- which would require them to reboot it in some way (probably updating all 12 or so tracks) in order for it to have some sort of new appeal.

Does any other group you know go back and release old tracks for no other reason that to sell that single? And this is Scooter we're talking about! Their reputation in regards to originality is already in jeopardy thanks to their latest line of releases...

Besides, the MYA hardstyle edit was never released as a single. It helped the sales of LIH though (well, for those that were aware of it).

My .02.

Edit: And it appears that I'm the only one that's given the question some thought. :D

Roll Baby Roll,,,, is I think one of best tracks done by Scooter, and it doesn't get enough hype! So it has my vote!
I also adore "Everlasting Love" from the "Whose got the Last Laugh Now?" album.

i think releaseing a new version of an old track would sound good maybe, but in ways you would lose the originality of the old version,
eg, where the beats... if scooter decided to release it inthe future you would kinda lose its originality, a bit like TSAMH

the only re release i would find fitting would be an updated version of ATBGO, being the debut, but i would say when scooter retire then it would be more fitting, like a legend album

but mainly i say no, who wants to here an old track, it wont be exciting enough to here an old track

here is a question for you all now?
would you prefer to haer a old track re-edited for a release, which you already know and could sound worse than its original or a brand new track, which you have never herd and dont know how you would feel about it?

i would say new track everytime, let the old tracks rest in there rightful place in the scooter scene, eg. we bring the noise belongs to the album as its lead track, releasing it now would be pointless, as it had no actual meaning, also i say if they do a re edited version of any tracks, then save then for live performences, it goes better, and add th=o the live scene, like posse did

dont gimme the funk that I'm totally for what agree resorts.miss you like Hypa Said!

but hey! for now this is leading to a more electro sound has (take me baby) (lass us tanzen) or (one to the swedish house mafia) that everything you mention.

unless scooter energetically decided to forget the modern side of electro that all clubs do. spineless and they do.

since they listened to the swedish house mafia! motivated you to send links of other songs, because
for fans and fan of jumpstyle and hardstyle, hard pill will be the next album, I tell you!

unless they are interested in (girls rock your boy) lol I propose to save a revolution in fan fury lol.

, but in ways you would lose the originality of the old version,
It'll also further dent Scooter's waning reputation. They've already received quite a negative image because of their less than favourable business with the hardstyle scene. I can only imagine how worse their integrity would be compromised as far as originality is concerned if they went back and tried to resurrect some of their old records. Like last time, we probably wouldn't hear the end of it. I mean there's nothing more last resort-ish or a demonstrable admission of few ideas than regressing back to earlier tracks... It almost sounds defeatist. Their main focus should be on releasing new material, and perhaps devising ways that could amened some of their mistakes.

I can visualize a farewell album that features an assortment of re-worked tracks... Yes. But a stand alone studio album is just a no (as explained above). And I don't think it should fixate on one particular album-- rather it should select the most memorable tracks and edit for the sake of a farewell send off. Even that is unlikely in my eyes though! They're not the sort of band that deeply cares about their fans enough to go out of their way to produce anything like that. They're refusal to be more personal and open with us is evidence enough.

Who wants to miss out on the mystery and excitement that comes with waiting for brand new material??? Not me. :P

As a single, no. Why? Because it would still be an old song, and it wouldn't really feel new. Just listen to some fan made remixes of older songs, do they really feel new to you? To me they don't. Plus, it would feel like the guys got bored and didn't feel like making anything new, but they wanted more money so they added some new melodies to an old song and released it.

As a bonus CD on a new (best of) album, sure. Rather that than a random selection of old singles as usual.

I agree. I'd like to hear something new and not new version of an old song. And if they want to release old hits in new versions they could make a bonus cd would from those songs,e.g. I love the new-live version of HMITF and Posse: bassline there is gorgeous.

They could make an older track sound better (and have done that, in lives), but I don't think they have ever considered something like that. I can't help it but to me releasing an older hit with an updated sound is just cheap, and usually artist who do that don't have very high output. I hope this never happens with Scooter. I can't see it happening, either. I think their singles will always be new stuff from the up-coming / latest album.
 This is a signature.
