the best thing is to know when the album comes out, buy it and read the tracklist for the first time! that's what i'm planning to do. in the past, when there was no internet and scooter albums did appear in belgian storen, i even didn't know the album name. wonderful days!

That were indeed wonderfull days  I had exactly the same experiences in my pre-internet era. But now it's so easy and tempting to find all the info, that I won't be able to resist I'm afraid. Although really resisting would bring a feeling of nostalgia back. But well, I know myself, and the samples I can resist for a while, but knowing the album name and such is just so tempting after almost 2 years of waiting for new stuff.

Listening to the samples and getting a lot of information about the forthcoming album can shrink the joy you can have with it if you don't know a lot of things about it before its release, because:
-If you listen to the chrous sample of a good refrain frequently it will become boring. Thus you can already be "overfed" with the best part of a track before you got in on CD
-If you know all the rippings before the album release your first real touch with the album will be under a partly disappointed mood; if you don't know much about the tracks and their originals you will judge them according to their sound quality
-if you listen to samples of the best parts of the tracks your fantasy "creates" the imagination of really bomby songs; but when listening to the songs' full length you will be a bit disappointed because there are also broing and repitive parts etc.
-getting used to an album increases its lifetime because you'll discover more and more elements with each listening; but if you have already listened to samples and if you have already tons of information before the album release, this discovery will be not that exciting anymore.

I had the same experience with Wicked. I had no idea that Scooter was releasing a new album after OHH, but when i was in a record store in my hometown i saw an cover witch looked like it had HP Rick and Ferris on it. It was a new scooter album and i cant describe the exitment i felt! It was a very nice time, but now when you know about an release many months before the cd is out you get higher expectations, and therefor you also get easyer dissapointed. Not sure what was best, before with no internet or now... but some of the magic is gone, because its very hard to not download before you get the cd or vinyl.

Internet is a blessing, but also a curse. It depends how you see it. We want to know everything, so the internet provides us with all we want to know, but than it destroy's the oldschool feeling of buying a CD without knowing anything about. But well, in the end our curiousity wins always and we're glad to have the net :D :D

@Mr. Hyper:
You're 100% right, I couldn't have said it better. And we know that, but still somehow can't refrain of listening :D

But you would become even more surprised and happy when you found a new Scooter album in a music shop :P

When i was a child i had some of these situations. Like when i saw Wicked in a CD shop and did not know that Scooter released 2 albums in 1996. I thought Our Happy Hardcore was the only one. I was quite surprised.

And the surprise was even bigger when you listened to the album, caus it was a big step from OHH, and a very diofferent album. You donth get that surprise if you listen to 10 samples first,

That's the case. Listen to the samples, and the sound will be much less surprising.

The Internet is very helpful for being informed on release dates and for ordering the CDs. Without internet I drove to shops for buying the album on the release date, but the shop didn't have it yet. So I had to come again 1-3 days later and this was a disappointing waste of time.
If you don't wanna know too much about an album you should avoid this forum 1-2 weeks before the release day and re-join the discussion after it. But so you'll miss the exciting pre-release-period and thus on eof the most interesting periods in this forum.

But you are surprised when you listen to the samples! :D And you are thinking about how the track will continue.

Well, yeah, but it's not exactly the same as the surprise when you find a new album in a store, that you haven't even heard about, and you put the disc in your player and hear the songs in their full lenght, the first time.

So, just a quick summary of large Kontor release dates:

3.18 - Atzen Musik - Party Chaos (Album) and Strobo Pop (single)
4.29 - ATB - Distant Earth (Album) and maybe a single same day

Seems Kontor releases on fridays. So the way the guys hinted at a single, we might get one in between, round 4.15 ?
