To be "Blümchen" was a very big point in the life of Jasmin, and so I can imagine she know it good enough and is very proud of her career. ;) In this way, she is taking serious her appearance! And I'll too watch it on MTV, fits good in my time schedule today. :)

I saw the rerun of MTV Home today: OMG what a performance :D

I just love seeing her perfoming the song again (even if it's just lip-syncing) and everyone's having fun and enjoying it, even if they don't like that style of music. It's really a great 90s flashback

Indeed, it was another great performance!! It is great that this is getting so much publicity. And it seems Jasmin has lost none of her cuteness running around a stage with rollerskates and flowers in her hair!

I am just looking forward to the next TV appearence! I am keeping a very close eye on the TV appearences section of her website! ;)

If Menowin would have won I could understand this but not by Mehrzad, he seems to be a nice guy and his voice is not bad.
Menowins dancing looks very silly in my opinion and his voice is not so good, I am happy that he have not won.
This year all people they have choosen was not so very great, I think Mehrzad was from all maybe the 2. best one, Nelson seems maybe a bit better but I think he was singing sometimes songs which did not fit for him.
So why working against Mehrzad he did not deserved it?

And if they do such things why they did not choose a good artist like Scooter :D
In the past in Germany we have had many other great Techno artists too, why they take Blümchen?. ?(
And why not a new great song, why such an old cheap song?

The campaign is not against Mehrzad in person. It was already planned way before the finale took place. Actually there are two campaigns. The one with "Boomerang" was started on facebook I think. The initiators said this: "We wanted a bizzare song. That's why we chose Boomerang".

The other campaign was started by Martin Kesici (he won a casting show in 2003). He chose Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven" simply because it's a real evergreen. In a newspaper he said "We want that a real superstar goes #1 and not a Bohlen-song. Mehrzad as a singer is quite good, but Bohlen's song sucks".

I didn't watch DSDS, apart from sometimes zapping through the channels and seeing a few minutes, but IMO that show is just not about music at all. The only thing you need to have is a sad story (for example that one was raised in poverty or lost his/her parents, etc) to get far. Of course you should be able to sing a bit, but the most important thing is that you look good and that the people behind the show can make the most money out of you. That's what the show's all about IMO. The candidates there have to sign a contract there, that allow the managers to make everything of their private lives public. Plus I think the show takes itself way too serious. I could honestly puke if I hear the moderator talking.

I really don't have anything against Mehrzad. From what I've seen on the TV he seems to be a nice guy. But the song itself is so damn cheap and simply sucks. Like pretty much every Bohlen song does. And the only thing that Bohlen wants is money as well. I respect what he has achieved in his career, but I can't believe how one can be so crazy about having a #1 in the charts (he said something like it's better than sex, etc.). His opinion is simply: music that's not successful in the charts = bad music. I just can't stand that guy at all. So I'm really happy that there are campaign's like this in Germany. People are finally showing that not everyone likes what being produced there.

I think the best example of how a casting show should be is "Unser Star für Oslo". There the people could sing whatever they wanted (even their own stuff), there were no private lives made public and they could simply do whatever the wanted (for example Menowin wasn't allowed to appear on the Oliver Pocher Show because of the contract he'd signed with RTL). Plus on "USFO" there were waaay better singers. It's was simply about the music. And that's why I have huge respect for Stefan Raab. And just the comparison between the two winner songs shows that the Stefan Raab show is of much higher quality.

But enough said about casting shows :D Let's get back to Blümchen ;) I'm really excited because tomorrow the new chart entries are going to be revealed and then we'll see how high Boomerang got :)

Oh No 7 is a little disappointing (I think it is No 7 as the campaign Facebook page also says 7). Although for Blümchen to hit the Top 10 with such an old song in 2010 is something I would have never believed a month ago. And who knows, maybe this might lead to a comeback. And she could still go higher once the CD sales kick in, as i think that comes out today :D

Also, Boomerang only managed No 11 back in 1996 I understand, so the re-release has done better than the original

I checked the local Saturn store today and they didn't have any copies. But they apparently have pushed the release back as amazon now lists it for this wednesday (April 28th).

I honestly never thought that it would go on #1, but just that it's Top Ten is an incredible thing for me. And yeah, it's already more successful than in '96, so there's nothing to complain about. I guess nobody thought that it'd get this big and get that much media attention. Plus it's pretty stupid that there are two campaigns. If people had managed to start a single one, the chances of course would've been higher to reach an even higher position.

But apart from all that I'm just happy to see Jasmin/Blümchen back in the charts again. :)

Yes, I thought it was pretty stupid having two campaigns as well. I was speaking to one of the organisers on the Facebook page the other day and he said that there were some debate between the people starting this campaign which song to promote - one wanted Boomerang, another Stairway to Heaven. As they couldn't agree, they did two campaigns. But there should have been just the one.

Exactly. But now as this whole "campaign against casting-winner-songs"-thing has also been started here in Germany, I can imagine really well that the same thing is going to take place next year again, when the new season of DSDS ends. And who knows, if they again choose a 90s dance song, I think Hyper Hyper would be an obvious choice (it actually was this year IMO). So maybe we're going to see that one in the charts again. To me that's definitely not impossible *dreams* :D

Ha ha, who knows, maybe Scooter next year. :D Although personally, I think an act which is not currently still successful would have a better chance, because the point of these campaigns against the singles of talent shows - be it DSDS in Germany or X Factor in UK - is partly to go against the trend of current successful acts or movements. That's why Blümchen was a good choice, because it was a quirky song and Blümchen as an act hasn't been around doing new stuff for nearly 10 years. I don't think Scooter, with its current success still, would have quite the same effect.

Maybe another Blümchen song next year!!
