That doesn't explain why homo sapiens outnumber monkeys in terms of numbers. The boost in human numbers is debatable, but I'd say it all boils down to our advances in medicine and dietary options. We also tend to live in more sanitized areas that decrease the incidence of disease. And we possess this inexplicable moral code that prevents the majority of us from killing one another.
However, I shake my head in agreement when you state pulverizing their habitats is certainly responsible for placing some of the species on the endangered list. I wouldn't worry about the absence of retribution for too long though, for it's only a matter of time before we all receive our comeuppance.
