Good album but awful mastering

While the album is pretty good, the mastered files are distorted and clipped to death ! It's one of the loudest and least dynamic album I have ever had. the kicks lost all their impacts .
this screenshot is an analysis of state of mind . it sums it all IMO.

I agree, it seems Rick left his mastering skills in the old studio.

When I heard the album on my headphones, you recognise that the album isn't clear produced. Others had a better sounds (for example We bring the Noise or No Time to Chill).

Listen to the second HP part in See Your Smile, there's a clearly hearable distortion.

First of all..
You cant analyz an allready mastered track with an dynamic analyzer, didnt you know that?

Second - I hear no dist in my monitors or headphones.
The dist i hear is just typicall "jumstyle" dist..

Of course you can ! i've listened to albums which had dynamic range greater than 30db ( 30 years old records between...). The problem I mainly tried to underline is that the album is overlimited and has squashed transients ; not to mention that some tracks in the album are clipped to death

There's some clicking on See Your Smile, do you think it's a mistake or is it wanted? Can't really explain but you hear it during the HPV.

I don't hear anything that is wrong, but I'm also not an expert on that field, but for me the album sounds normal as always, and there are lot's of big and litle sound effects this time in the tracks ;)

I don't hear something clicking. But there are several small effects in the tracks, maybe you're hearing one of those.

No, you cant analyze an already mastered track with an dynamic analyzer.
It doesnt matter what the meters show, they wont give you the correct range anyway.
Do you even know what an dynamic analyzer does?

And no, it doesnt matter what you say.
The file you're analyzing is already mastered, ripped from a pressed CD, and is in no such good quallity for be analyzed.

Edit: http://andreastilly.com/peak.jpg
Se, I dont even get the same results as you are.
Why? Because you cant analyze the track.
And if you could, my highest peak reaches -0.5 which means = perfect mastering!
And since its a dynamic analyzer you should look at the range level instaed, and not the peak level (volyme meters)

I dont have a clue of what your talking about, but i think thee is a wave of producing loude tracks at the moment.
I red in som other forum (Europe) that the producer´s of Europes new album said "the mastering is VERY "hot", probably too extreme for some people. but
everyone wants to be the "loudest" nowadays, especially in Heavy Metal
or Stoner rock genres... that's no big surprise ... and btw Tobias
Lindell mentioned already that the mastering could be "too much" for
Hifi freaks..."

Could it be the same issue here, we know Scooter the like it loud :) .

Up 1 on this one, mastering and producing is awful. Rick should be ashamed.. And the beat goes on has more depth than this album . But he intensness and happy vibe about over the top still makes it one of the better albums.

I was thinking about the stadium techno.. and when maria breaks through..its very rough on the speakers...but that f.ou.cking awesome BEAT is just... breathtaking. Dont hear any of that depth in over the top sadly.

There is no way you would know that, but this is 2008/9's standard. It SHOULD be this way, as sad as it may sound. The problem is not in Rick or the studio. Music nowadays is distorted and clipped. It sounds louder at first hearing and thats the way distributing companies want it to be.

Metallica's Death Magic is another example of a good album destroyed by that new tendency.

Either way they have a choice, especially scooter own sheffield tunes and partly Kontor. So they dont have to bow down to some big music label. And yes there is a way some of us have listened to other albums during 2008/9. This is a choice made by scooter and rick seems to be on the lazy side, bigger stumach and more partying..
