I like Metropolis  the rest is kinda weak.
Very disappointing album for me. But I think i'm grown out of the scooter histeria where everything sounds awesome and nothing's wrong :D

I'm positive about some tracks, but negative about some others.

Got the limited edition this morning all the way from Germany via Amazon DE, was surprised to get it on release day...fantastic.

The album in my humble opinion is one of the best......infact after a few more listens it may even knock The Stadium Techno Experience off my personal number one position......I am blown away. Love the bass, the mix of all types of music....some old tunes being reborn and of course HPs sexy voice.

Just love it.......best birthday pressie ever! :D :D
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.

Liquid Base Babe, HP's on my mind.

I guess I have to wait until 4PM, because the mail always arrives very late...

CANT WAIT!!!

For me it's the opposite, too much instrumentals make a CD boring, HP tracks never make me bored, and on UTROTT are much HP tracks ;)
If we'd get more instrumentals like Transcendental, Habanera (no voice...), Time And Space, maybe Aii SHot The DJ (Extended, without vocals), I don't care :D

First impressions:
good: a lot of melodies, new effects and sounds, some variation in track construction, HP is singing more than before...
bad: some tracks could be better with 'normal' (not jumpstyle, not hardstyle), clear and trancy bass and beats, better fitting effects and a clearer construction - sometimes the hardstyle elements destroy the epic character of a track ("The sound above..." would sound great as a normal trance track, but the "In my aaaaarms, in my aaaarms"-parts destroy the atmopshere a bit - the same with "Where the beats..." and "State of Mind" - with less hardstyle elements, normal deep, clear bass and less strange effects like the shouts of the hpv in "Where the beats..." these tracks could sound wonderful, but actually they are "only" good party tracks...)

Review:

1. Stealth
Average intro, I like the idea to make it flow with J'adore Hardcore, but it's nothing special and they could have added some nice sounds effects to it. 6/10

2. J'adore Hardcore
Good track, but the dup dup dup destroys it 7/10

3. Ti Sento
I don't know why everybody thinks it's so great. The parts with H.P.'s verses are nice, but the jumpstyle beat and melody in the chorus destroys this one. 6/10

4. State Of Mind
Starting of with good verses by H.P. with nice music underneath it. Then we have a nice chorus and after that the melody. It has a different build than most tracks and that's also nice. 7,5/10

5. Where The Beats...
Elephant God? what the fuck. well anyway, starting with a nice H.P. part and we got a HPV wich reminds me of the happy hardcore genre. And after that we have Technoboy's beautiful melody. all in all a nice happpy track, but I think the c-part is a bit too short. 7,5/10

6. Bit A Bad Boy
Rock Civilization again, they must love that track when they rip it two times. Anyway, this must be one of my favorites on the album, the Rock Civilization melody fits better in this one than in JAOTW I think. Also nice vocals from Krezip, allthough they are a bit overused, but they did some nice effects on them wich makes it a bit different. I somehow have the feeling the first H.P. shouts don't fit that good in the music. 7,8/10

7. The Sound Above My Hair
Nice intro, allthough the beat starts a bit too fast, and gives a rushed feeling. We have a nice melody and H.P. starts singing! In this track it's a shame they used the Auto-Tune effect on his voice, a track like this should have a clear voice, it fits better I think. Anyway, I like the trancy part after H.P.'s singing. And after that it repeats in the same way wich is a shame! I really mis a C-part in this tune! 7,6/10

8. See Your Smile
The only good part of this track are the H.P. parts, nice to hear some different shouts from H.P., allthough I hear distortion in the music the second time we can hear H.P. I don't know if this is done on purpose, but it doesn't sound good I think. Hardstyle needs a bit distortion on the kicks and bass, but this is too much. The rest is just too cheesy. The vocals from Rainbow In The Sky are already cheesy, but not that cheesy because they are sung with a normal voice, but now we have them as HPV and it sounds terrible. 4/10

9. Clic Clac
It might be cheesy, but it's quite nice I think. Hard beats combined with a cheesy melody, I lilke this one, but they made a lot of better instrumentals. I don't like the Nintendo sound parts, anyway, it's just a small part of the song and it doesn't ruin it that much. 7/10

10. Second Skin
Usually I don't like tracks like this.
But this one has to be the best track on the album, a great relaxing tune. H.P. singing in a good way, and I have no complainments about the music either, just perfect, lots of variation in it wich is really nice. 9/10

11. Stuck On Replay
I really love the parts with H.P.'s verses in this one, the music fits good to his lyrics and that's nice. I don't like the HPV that much, and we have a melody from Phil Ty in here, but it fits I guess. But once again, I miss a C-part, and with C-part it would have been better. 7,0/10

12. Metropolis
Great trance tune! nice melody and vocal in it, the melody is a bit simple though, and that's a shame! A different part in this would be nice too. 7,5/10

Album as total: 7/10

It's an average Scooter album, best of chapter 4 for sure, but that wasn't hard to beat.

Well.. I'm very, very disappointed. In fact, that's an understatement. Those of you who were on the board a few years ago will remember my very vocal displeasure regarding WGTLLN.. This album is just as bad, if not worse. Let's see..

J'adore Hardcore - 8/10 - Suffers from the tried and tested formula they seem to have used for the last few years now, but still a decent track because of the raw power it has. Decent powerful if unremarkable verses, the "darts" sample in the chorus is the same as TSTKE and pretty lazy tbh, but the C-Part is amazing, the kinda thing they always seem to be capable of. The instrumental breakdown gives me shivers, but overall this falls just short of being a classic, primarily because of the overriding laziness apparent in the track, which is sadly an issue throughout the entire album.

Ti Sento - 8/10 - Again decent, and in terms of creativity far better than JH - an interesting TGIWITQ-esque song with lots of things going on in the background. Unfortunately, the chorus, whilst melodic, does drag on for a bit and to cut out half of the second verse to get it in is a bit dissapointing. Again, a flawed but typical Scooter track.

State Of Mind - 7/10 - With stupid amounts of HPV in this song based on the samples I was fearing the worst, but it's all right. The first verse is bland, a throwaway, but the mixture of ambient and explosive power in the chorus is fantastic. The biggest let down in this song however is the sheer fact that the song does not change one bit and merely repeats itself. Again an example of blatant laziness.

Where The Beats - 8/10 - This song is very, very similar to State Of Mind, the only difference being it is marginally better. The verses are far, far better and very different to the kind of style the band normally employ, but ultimately it seems to be lacking something, the kinda thing that so many Scooter tracks to be amazing. Whilst the uplifting chorus does go a long way in doing this, once again it falls just short of being a classic.

Bit A Bad Boy - 7/10 - By now I'm starting to notice a pattern - the previous three tracks have all sounded exactly the same. The verses sound bland, unimaginative, as if the band just put it there to just fill something in, and the melody which seemed hard and powerful in State Of Mind is used AGAIN, with minor changes, and is repeated far too often. The HPV part with the crowd singing in is a rare blip of creativity, but this can't save the song from being decidedly average.

The Sound Above My Hair - 9/10- Now this is more f*cking like it. Seven tracks in and the first decent Scooter track, sadly a record for me. Immediately what stands out from this song is that it's NOT hardstyle, and a perfect example of what the band can do if they don't conform to trends. Immediately the powerful, hard instrumental backing comes in, sadly missed after so long. The chrous is amazing as well, HP's vocoder-aided voice being followed by a dreamy trance backing. Unfortunately, like most tracks on the album, it does tend to repeat itself, barely changing, but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

See Your Smile - 4/10 - Oh dear. This track is simply awful. A monotone, boring verse followed by everything that's bad about the HPV - a cheesy, pseudo-happy-hardcore tune that sounds hideously out of place in the already mediocre track. The melody which follows is once again bland and uninspiring and repeated far too often, all of this combining to make one of their worst tracks ever.

Clic Clac - 5/10 - What the hell? This song just p*sses me off. It's just a childish, blaring wall of noise with a very forgettable chorus. It's worse than "Whistling Dave" on the previous album.. And that's saying something.

Second Skin - 8/10 - Thank god, another traditional Scooter track after those two abominations. Whilst obviously a basic rock-to-dance cover, the effects used are very interesting and show that the Scooter spirit still remains. Whilst not setting the heather alight, this song is calm and relaxing. The almost complete change halfway through, whilst introducing many trance elements is again relaxing.

Stuck On Replay - 5/10- This is SOM, WTB, BABB, SYS all over again, and bad, once again. Just take everything I said about SYS and paste it here, the only difference being that the verse is slightly better, and not a bunch of monotone cr*p. Disappointing.

Metropolis - 9/10 - Ah, the traditional trance track. This can always be counted on to show the true Scooter spirit, the one they've had for years and years. A subtle yet powerful backing opens the track, followed by the ambient part with the female voice singing softly over, the breakdown follows and the track climaxes in everything previously heard refined. Excellent.

Overall, this album is very poor, lazy and bland, and I hope to god that they don't make yet another trend-based album after this or I'll be sorry to say that my Scooter-fandom may be coming to an end. :(

+1
jumpstyle and hardstyle bassdrums without basslines destroys some tracks!!!

How can you say that the album isvery poor if you give most of the sons 7 or higher? 7 and 8 are very high grades.

well, since yesterday I had a few more listenings, but I can already say, that only the tracks 3-7 and 10 are good. The Rest is weak. I would declare the album as 2nd best of the 4th chapter. TUAO is still the best 4th chapter album.

i think a more instrumental-based album is easier to produce as you don't have so many different elements to combine in one track and you don't have to write or rip so many melodies/refrains. So it's not a question of hard work. The "instrumental/experimental" albums of the former years came very quickly after each other. In 1996 they had even two and in 1997 they had already the third one! Except the short gap between TUAO and JAOTW we usually have to wait almost a year for a new album these days. ;)

But still, it's much more often than other bands, that uses 3-4 years on each album ;)
