NTSC: All region

Can somebody please explain me what means NTSC: All region! :?

In a local record store,I noticed that there are many cool gift packs (2xCD + DVD) from music artists like Simple Minds,Pet Shop Boys,Faithless,The Chemical Brothers...but,on the back of those boxes it's written NTSC: All region.

Can I play those DVD's in my DVD player or not?
I don't believe that the store ordered unplayable DVD's! :roll:

Thanks! 8)

NTSC is in Europe, America has PAL. And i think there was a third one... But if it says all region you would be able to play it. I'm not totally sure though... :)

lol its exactly the other way...
NTSC = USA, Japan
PAL = Europe

the other one is:

SECAM = Australia (AFAIK)

normally every standard dvd player is able to show PAL AND NTSC, so it should be no problem to watch those DVDs.^^

I'm pretty sure Australia is NTSC too. I have never heard of SECAM :?

SECAM is a french standart. It is used in the middle east and in Russia.
In France, we are using both SECAM and PAL.

if the box says NTSC all regions, you can play it for sure. The picture "format" is NTSC, but you should have no problems with this, if the disc is region 0 (zero)

it's the encoding... I've watched a NTSC-format movie myself - Shaolin Soccer - only thing I noticed was the slightly worse quality than PAL :)

Sorry I made a mistake. Australia is PAL. Not NTSC.
