I'm a hardcore football fan, I have no trouble getting into a tournament without us being in it, it saddens me though. :(

But I watched EVERY Real Madrid game last season, Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas are my boys! 8) I really like Puyol too, and Fabregas. I like the Spanish way of playing. An ideal final for me would have been Holland vs Spain, all out attack. 8) But I also like the way Germany approach football, their philosophy is successful and they do like to attack. Klose and Podolski up front are class.

Germany vs Spain
What a final that'll be. The strikers, Villa (hopefully)/Guiza and Torres, Podolski and Klose and Gomez! 8) Brilliant final in the making, the midfield on display too, all I can say is wow. I can't wait for sunday! :D

Come on Spain!!!

That guy Pavlychenko is a beauty to watch. He has that special touch on the ball that reminds me of Cassano when he was still playing for Roma.
He didn't do anything incredible tonight, as the whole Russian side but I really like that boy and would love to see him in a top club.
Congrats to Spain, they deserve it.
Slipping sideways, silver stars collide
And fade away just like our love that died
And there is nowhere in this universe to hide
From you tonight...

Pavyluchenko is class, he seems underrated. He shouldn't be, he sorted England out. And the only reason he didn't get signed by a Premier League club here is because of that! He#d be mercilessly booed with every touch.

I agree with you though mate, he is a class act. Can't speak for Cassano at Roma, I only saw him stink up the place at Real Madrid. But the Russians do have some class players. I like Torbinsky aswell, and obviously Arshavin. The left back, Zhirkov looked classy aswell, and Semak holding the midfield, not to mention Akinfeev in goal. Classy side, well outplayed tonight though, the Spanish put them to sword for the second time this championships.

I love the patriotism in this thread. The Spanish guy cheering on Russia, and now Nic giving our national team a massive vote of no confidence. :| What did the flying Dutchman do when Germany won? He posted the national flag 3 times in celebration! 8) We can learn alot from our European friends, even on this forum!

We shouldn't be so complacent about sport, we should get the hunger and the desire back again. 8) We've lost it somewhat. We need to recover, we have brilliant sportsmen and women in this country, we need to appreciate them again. :D

Starting tonight, Chris Eaton at Wimbledon. Watch it, the crowd support is absolutely amazing. 2 sets down, being thrashed with relative ease. But every single point, the crowd is screaming support. It's amazing!

My hate to the national football team is a personal question, you know, when basket team play, when Contador won the Giro, when Valverde will win the tour, when the handball team won the world cup, when every spanish athlete plays, i will support them, but when the football team plays i“ll never support them.

But i recognize they“re playing very good, and maybe they“re better than Germany.

SO...GO GERMANY...PLEASE...DO IT FOR ME...

If you look at football from my perspective, as a referee, it's very hard to sit and watch a game nowadays. For two reasons mostly:

One- players feel the need to dive and roll around when they've barely been touched. At work, to get to the customers, I have to walk through the kitchen. Sometimes I'll trip or slip on something but I'll regain my balance. I won't start rolling around on the floor wanting attention.

Two- The respect shown for the officials is non-existant. The abuse those guys go through is stupid. A good Premier League player earns £100,000 a week, a referee earns the same in a year.

Saying that, I have little respect for the referees who don't show authority, not too much but just to let them know who's in charge. When I say them backing away from players I hold my head in my hands.

These are the main reasons why I don't watch much international football on TV any more. It's sad I know but true.

Take your referee cap off mate, you'll enjoy football more. I think the referee's have done really well this tournament, they've not been conned by any diving that I can think of (Austria's penalty aside! ). They've done well, they've stood for no crap. Volkan of Turkey pushed over Koller, straight red. Schweingsteiger petulantly kicked out, straight red. Spot on, both times. 8)

Would you rather the referee went in two footed on players commiting fouls? :o Hack them down! Like that ref in Spain, there was a punch up going on, he was blowing the whistle and clearly got bored, so he got stuck in himself! Pushing people all over the place. He got the situation under control though, didn't even need to punch anyone!

i try not to think like a ref during games but when you've got mates saying, "you're a ref, what would you have done?! it's quite hard.

glad to hear they're taking a tougher stance on behaviour this year. either way, i've been at work a lot recently soi haven't had that much time for the tournament this year.

Tell them to jog on! Say, hey. I'm watching the match pal, I'm not bothered right now. It's all theory anyway, easy to say when watching replays and whatnot. Though, we should introduce that technology. The time, she has come. 8)

Whereas I have been watching just about all of it! A feast of football. Spain are going into the final in the best form, clean sheets in consecutive games and they won their group with a 100% record. Of the 5 games they've now played at Euro 2008, they've won 4 and gone to a penalty shoot out in the other. Noone has come close to knocking them out, and now Germany will feel the wrath of Fernando Torres, and will find it impossible to put the ball past Casillas in goal. 8)
