Duffy sold 41K in 3rd place, so I reckon Scooter would of sold more than the 33.5K to go gold last week :) - awaiting confirmation though.

Fantastic. Why dont they do the same all over europe with releasing the album with that bonus cd and advertise big. It will reach top 3 in all countries.

This will maybe happen. It would be a dream if all Scooter albums and singles were released in most of the European cuntries (plus USA and Australia) nearly at the same time with nearly the same advertisement. If they would also have nearly the same success like in Germany or now in the UK they could become a real big name in the whole world (like Linkin Park for example).

The UK charts are a bit difficult for each band - but bands like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park or The Bloodhound Gang and artists like Eminem or 50 Cent are known all over the world. But there is no techno or dance band/artist that has such a wide-spread success. Scooter especially in Eastern Europe and Germany and at times in other countries like the UK, Gigi d'Agostino in Southern and Middle Europe (2000-2002), Cascada had some hits in a lot of countries, but there is not really a constant success and Basshunter is famous in Northern and Middle Europe. Further there are some DJs like Tiesto who are also known in the USA, but they don't produce top10 hits or sth. like that.
Why is it like that? Why is there no lasting worldwide success for techno/dance? Cascada and Tiesto showed that electronic music can be successful over the ocean, Scooter made a number one album in the UK - so there are people who like these kind of music in the "undiscovered" parts of the world.

i think scooter have always been very well known over here, just never really commercially popular. tiesto has become popular because it's always been hard to tell what year the track is from. I think tiesto is timeless.

Scooter have had to adapt and change their style to stay popular. Most artists that have a top 10 DANCE hit in the UK never do it again and usually cease to exist. Scooter haven't because they have never run out of ideas.

also, most dj's borrow dance music from each other and rip it onto their PC so they don't have to buy it. maybe it's also because dance music is not so readily available in other countries such as the US. :?

Who knows?
