yeah live stuff as said, i also recall rick saying they delete un used stuff normally, so if they did release some unreleased stuff, its a rare treat, just look at PTBFTJ

Well, they made the "Neverending Story" chorus back in 2005, but didn't use it. And as we all know, they used it a few years later.
So they did save it.

I have different feelings about PTBFTJ - I think it was maybe an unfinished second chapter album, but rather than not release the fantastic tracks they combined it with a best of and PTBFTJ is the great result :)
