Interesting statements concerning their label policy which also affects their release and promotion policy.

Edel = mother company
Kontor = label for techno/dance/house music
Sheffield Tunes = Scooter's own section of Kontor

That means that they must still have the control on their release policy and that the recent changes are planned/agreed by themselves and are not forced by other people. So it might be that they gain from the whole Kontor success even the success house artists like DJ Antoine achieve - so it might be possible that they rely on the people who produce the music that is "trendy" today and use Scooter partially as a "classical dance monolith" and - on the latest album - as a try in new styles.

But on the whole I wonder if it was really the right decision not to sign with a big record label like Sony. Because a big record label has the financial power to make your songs run all over the world nearly at the same time.
When Scooter worked under Edel immediately they had their singles released in most European countries within a small period (and they were successful in most countries). In later years they started their releases in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, then in Nothern and Eastern Europe and if they were successful they turned to countries like the UK or Australia. But the UK or Australia sees Scooter releases only in the most successful periods and some important countries like France, Italy or the US don't see Scooter releases at all. But with a big record company in their back they could have had regular and well-promoted releases worldwide.

It's good to know not every english journalist is an as_hole.
Riding with me is my friend R.J.Jordan,
Knowing the rules aint part of his program,
Finding the right tune that fits the track,
Might be pretty hard cuz he's f_cked on crack!

Start the match and find the station
Reach what you can and party the nation,
A? Hey! Whatcha gonna say?
I automate the sequence and speed for my getaway
Take it to the edge, there's nowhere to hide,
And call up the crew; let's go for a joyride!

Let's go for a joyride!

well said mr hyper, also big companies have a tendency to drop artists when things turn sour, which means scooter could have ended years ago, as early as 98 after the flop of no fate and age of love album sales being the worst of all the first 4 albums, also if it went on after TSTE things have slowed down for years now, and never really returned, so scooter could have ended their too, i'm glad scooter did their own thing, it means they have complete control, and i'd say they have done a great job, scooter are the worlds most successful dance band to date IMO, they have a very good career portfolio and it was all down to them.
