Really? I thought Rick and Michael said in an interview, that Dreams was the first track finished?

According to HP "C'est bleu" was produced as one of the first track
A real announcement wasn't even there actually. Don't get me wrong, I remember H.P. saying smth. like "We tried electro/house, but that wasn't really our cup of coffee, so we'll go more back to the roots" but I wouldn't interpret this as a real announcement to make songs like Back In The U.K. again. I think the songs you already mentioned Close your Eyes/Summer Dreams/C'est Bleu? is what H.P. was talking about... I guess a lot fans expected more than that.

Were those back-to-the-roots-announcements in late spring/early summer only a joke or did they delay those plans for the next album?

This is a signature. You were one of the few then. I liked him too but I could see most of the standing crowd from where I was, and it was stiller than in a funeral. It's just not working with Scooter fans, that style. If Scooter changes too much most fans won't like the music because it's not what they're into them for in the first place: loud high-energy tunes.I enjoyed Chris at the Inferno

. They had some ideas, put them in a new album and hoped we'll like it. Some of us like them, some of us don't, but that's how it goes with most of new releases. Like Traxx and most of you said - some fast, rebelious, melodic, and happy (not cheesy) tracks are wanted. This electro-house style and most of "slow" styles are not Scooter's cup of tea.
As the struggle continues...there's No Fate. The Age of Love!

The major change were decided after Chris' dj-set on the Inferno, I think. They saw that his style didn't take off, and probably decided that said style wasn't what the fans wanted.
it's normal that a support act doesn't make the crowd move that much. People visit the gig for the main act you know.
