Dearest friends,

Where do I even begin? Every minute of the past year has been nothing short of marvelous and I'm altogether speechless. How can I, over the course of a handful of sentences, put into words how thankful I am for what has happened over the previous twelve months? RECORDING

Aside from the occasional handfuls of ripped-out hair, I'm ALMOST done mixing the new record and I'm really, really, REALLY excited for you to hear it. Think late Spring/Summer. My eyes have become cubes after putting in what feels like a million 12 hour days in studio, but looking back on what's been created, I can truly say that I'm most proud of this fresh batch of music. There are a few unexpected twists and turns, a few rabbit holes, a few sore thumbs, and I couldn't be MORE excited! Street date is coming soon so stay tuned.

Owl City singer sends love song to Taylor Swift


The country singer, known for penning songs about her troubled past relationships, hasn't tried to hide the fact that the sweeping romantic ballad "Enchanted" on her last album "Speak Now" describes her unrealized crush on Owl City's Adam Young.

Brief run down of what May knows so far.

The countdown has begun!

I can now finally breathe a massive sigh of relief now that the street date for the forthcoming album has finally been unveiled. Seeing Adam's cryptic references to its launch and the innumerable amount of times that I saw the word 'soon' pertaining to the official announcement of All Things Bright And Beautiful, I was beginning to wonder if Adam even knew what the word actually meant. I was even entertaining the idea at times that he was just mischievously playing fast and loose with the term to get us more psyched up. Phew, I'm glad that's all over and cleared up. Now the uncertainty lies with what sort of record this sophomore album will be. Ocean Eyes was an unprecedented success, reaching the UK top ten and going Gold in 2010, so it's going to be no cake walk trying to live up to its name. The single Fireflies has become synonymous with the Owl City monikor, and many are calling on Adam to produce something as insanely fantastic to follow on from it. The amount of pressure that Adam must've been under during the development of this album must've been quite understandably immense.

As of yet, little information is avaliable of the finer details of this new piece of art. Its Wiki page is therefore quite sparse at the this point in time. However, some things have been revealed by Adam, such as the four tracks that have been definiitevely confirmed to be on the finalized tracklist.

Confirmed tracks thus far are:

The aforementioned tracks were revealed last year in an issue of Rolling Stones where Adam also additionally announced the title of the next album. The general sound of the record as a whole will reportedly feature more guitar and shall lightly enter various genres that haven't been experimented with as of yet. According to a recent blog entry, All Things Bright And Beautiful will contain a total of fifteen brand news tracks. It's unclear whether or not the Christmas single 'Peppermint Winter' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orDENUwk344), released in November of last year, will be featured on the final track list. Rumored tracks to be included on the album also include a demo that Adam uploaded onto his blog a few weeks ago entitled 'Helicopter Moon' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bSrY5cmqoI). A list of speculative additions were enlisted on the albums Wikipedia page, but have since been removed for reasons unknown. It's also worth mentioning the possibility of Adam's Valentines day cover of Taylor Swift's 'enchanted' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9qKHGsoc8k) may also be included.

Also cause for excitement is the reassurance that Adam hasn't forgotten about the ambient side project Port Blue whilst getting swept up in the Owl City moniker that propelled him to fame. Unlike Owl City, which is primarily a synthpop act, Port Blue is described as being "the soundtrack of life". Its hauntingly atmospheric sound creates for some amazingly chilling vibes that just blow you away. The albums The Airship (2007), The Albatross (200 and Arctic (2008?) are all released under the name Port Blue.
