Where the beats?!?!?!

Will the version from the tour be released from a single?! it was literally like an orgasm to my ears and I much prefer it to the album 1??

Sadly not :(

It wasn't even on Live in Hamburg, because of copyright issues.

I loved the track as much as you, I was really disheartened when I learned I would never hear an HQ version (Apart from the one I saw live) :(

Thanks God it won't be released. It's a shame they changed WTB that way. Album version is a masterpiece.

Ditto.

I still think it was infinitely better than the album version.

At least you were one of the privileged few who grabbed the opportunity to see it played in person.

I remember the feeling of anguish upon seeing the Live In Hamburg tracklist immediately after it was published on the discography section of the main site. Noticing that Where The Beats... was missing, my heart literally just sank into disbelief. In retrospect, it was all a little melodramatic now that I look back on it. Nevertheless I still felt frustrated that the one track that was swaying me to buy it was missing. All those spectacular low quality videos that were so promising went to nothing (other than nostalgia for those that attended).

It sparked quite a heated debate here too. And the one thing that really got me going was the inconsistency of it all. H.P. only announced that the track was destined to fade a way into obscurity due to a copyright conundrum in Essen-- which was completely random. It was neither the first concert nor the last. He appeared to have forgot the mention throughout the other concerts that the track was an exclusive tour performance only. it was obvious that a track as mesmerizing as this was going to precipitate excitement; making H.P.s decision to neglect to mention its predicament all the more unforgivable. This just never made any sense to me. All the videos now just serve to remind me what could have been. Ah well, it's better than nothing.

It was indeed, it sounded super. So after the tour I search for some HQ vids on Youtube, but sadly most had distorted sounds, so this track will for always remain a hidden track so to speak. I was priviledged to have heared it live, and that 2 times, but I would so want to have it at home, to put it in the cd player and just listen to it over and over again. I was really shocked when I noticed it was cut out of the live recording on the DVD, and that it also wasn't on the live CD. I still hope that one day, somehow we will get the track as some bonus on a limited edition of an album. But to achieve that, fist of all copyright issues have to be solved, and I don't know if Scooter will de that :S

Good point.
Well, I want this new version to be released on a remix compilation which was mentioned by the Russian fans before the March concert in Moscow.

I imagine it takes a while to ensure copyright infringement is avoided and permission is sought. And I'm guessing they've learnt somewhat from that incident with Roll Baby Roll, which required them to change the melody and the title of the track to Swinging In The Jungle. Be nice to know whether they actually asked beforehand. If they told us they were rejected or something-- I assume they can be --we could all rest easy and drop the matter. At the very least they could distribute it freely without having to worry about circumventing or following the law. It'd make a nice addition to a limited edition variant of the new album. But their priorities should lie with completing some fresh new material before they go out of their way to ensure it'd be legal to release this obscure track me thinks. In the future, they should avoid using melodies that are too well known and therefore act as an impediment to release. Just to reiterate all that was discussed when the issue was hot.

to me there is no way u2 will let scooter use there track,
it was indeed a great track made better, and i feel scooter were ready to maybe release WTB as a single, but after u2 said no, all plans were cancelled
if scooter did add it as a bonus the u2 sample wont be used, infact i dont think that will ever happen

shame really a good track, but atleast we have the album version which is too still very good

For me this is not the version of u2 that scooter has selected but the Pet Shop Boys who have taken this title.

Yeah, atleast then we would know if we have to keep on hoping or have to forget all about it. But I doubt they will tell it to us, so we fans will be keep on hoping..

When did this happen? :S

Not that it's an unreasonable assumption. I just haven't seen any news about it since the sporadic Essen announcement back in March. And I don't recollect the member that notified us of that saddening bit of news saying anything about U2 rejecting Scooter's desire to use that particular melody. I suppose you could very well say it's the only logical conclusion to make. What else can one infer from a copyright restriction? But they could also of very well decided that it wasn't worth the effort of going through all the formalities to make it legal. I'm under the impression that they only deal with these legal processes when confronted by the artists themselves-- which usually happens afterwards.

Do you remember what happened in Berlin with "Roll,Baby,Roll"? Scooter has played it live but it wasn't on the dvd because Abba has forbidden to use their melody. With "WTB" we have the same situation because of U2 - it's a bit strange, don't you think?
IMO Jens should react on situation like that and clear it before sth like this happens: I wasn't on the concerts during UTROTT-Tour" - but if I were I'd feel sorry that I can't hear a great song which was played at the beginning of the tour...
