@kelvo: I don't think it's either -- I think it's just their usual way of not communicating. I think they have a solid idea of what they want on the album, whatever this new style is, and they have already worked some on it, and I believe progress to happen, and a single out this year, the very least. They're like they've always been -- they might mention, in some foreign interview (which is not mentioned on the main page) that yes they're working on a new album, then a few months before the release date (this date found on Amazon or such before anything is officially told) the official site is updated with a message that a new album will be out on that and that day. No information about the style of the album or the recording progress, nothing. The album just appears one day... I think it's essentially what May said that they're a band from a different generation, they haven't got used to online publicity, back in the day publicity meant interviews in tv, radio, and magazines, and they still do it that way (and no other way). Ironically, if I remember reading right -- and I might be remembering wrong -- Scooter was one of the first bands with a web site in the 'cyberspace'. :D (Can anyone confirm?) They are using some of the social media, but they aren't using it "the right way" -- they're posting updates once the release is nearing, but nothing else. And those updates are impersonal and official sounding and are likely written by the webmaster. The guys are just too old-fashioned when it comes to publicity, and I guess there's no changing that! :D

The internet is such an invaluable tool nowadays too, hence why younger artists are now known to take full advantage of the internet side of things and inevitably have a far greater understanding of its functionality and influence. Adam's fame was built entirely on the internet by uploading some of his earlier songs on MySpace, which then subsequently got him enough followers to attract the curiosity of the Universal Republic label. I think he's proof enough of just how powerful the internet can be. The potential and opportunity for a larger number of followers is positively staggering. But because the guys are decades apart from it, they're struggling to comprehend its significance and role it serves between them and the fans.

Too old to use the internet this way? Nope. David Guetta is 43 years old, he's from the same generation as the guys. If you watch his video "Gettin' Over You", then you can see that he's writing to his Twitter account from his phone. He writes that videoshoot has started in LA. Well, in November HP used Scooter's Twitter account to write things about TSAMH videoshoot. But he stopped it. They hardly write news on their accounts. Why? :P And, as you all said, we only need some fresh news from the studio. :)

The question is: "Do they don't know to use the internet or do they don't want to use the internet on the way the other bands do?" .... I think it's the last, because at Kontor they very well know how to use internet for promo, so it seems Scooter don't want the internet to be the #1 promo source ;) In a way Scooters promo was never and still isn't that big as at other German bands. Scooter have always a sort of limited amount of promo, that most of the time yet seems to be sufficient though looking at the sales and charts. They aren't in every youth magazine, or every TV show and game show....they are here and there, but not everywhere ;) It seems they like to let the music and the brand name do the work in a waY I think.

Good points, Scooterworld. True, they don't have that much promo (I can't remember reading even one interview when UTROTT was released...), and maybe it's the best this way, after all. It works somehow. I think it's the guys themselves; they just don't want to be seen that much. If I remember correct they have even said something like that, and, as you said, let the music speak instead.

I still wish they would post more news, though. Posting updates for fans is quite different from any ordinary promotion, using Twitter to send updates from the studio for fans (who would be the only people to read/find them) isn't really publicity and wouldn't mean stepping in the limelight. But maybe they work better in total secrecy, and when not having made any promises of the up-coming stuff, and probably they like (and have to admit I like it too) the surprise element.

By the way, great picture (of HP...), never seen it before.

I've noticed that you've edited your original condescending submission, yet it still blatantly indicates that you haven't read any of my posts at all. Not once have I or anyone else advocated or called for them to use these social networking portals for revealing intimate information about their private lives. Some of us are actually keen on them keeping us up to date on their time in the studio; so it not only works to bring the group and the fans closer together, but it also builds up a level of anticipation for their forthcoming album. Artists use twitter, Facebook, Youtube or whatever to keep fans in the know. It's the norm nowadays, and it'd be tremendous if Scooter did the same.

May, I don't wanna fight against you or anybody else. It's not my kind. :) I understand your points, and fair enough what you've written here. :) I understand aganims comment wrong, so that's it. And in the end it's up to the guys to bring out some informations about a new album, or not. I can wait, and I'll see what will come.

But... One point of aganims joke could be true, but shush... I won't say more, it's unimportant. ;)
At the moment: Here is enough space for broken dreams! ;( ;( ;(

to me it seems scooter know as well as kontor that they are big enough to have little promo and still do well, scooter still seem to achieve top 10s even with little promo, but it would be nice to be kept in the loop every once in a while, i like it when srange but good things come about, remember the studeo tours they have done in the past to show us how they work, i wouldnt mind seeing them again,

but as i said, i personly think scooter never wanna spoil the suprises with little bits of news, if they did that, by the time the album was released we would pretty know all about it, it wouldnt be so fresh, it seem sscooter normally announce the most important things close to the time of any releases, other than that we get little news on progress or some info about holidays and compitions to fill the gaps, i like news but if its poitless stuff like we have made some progress then there is no real point of adding it to the news, as i said, i would imagine nearer the time of complition we will start getting news,
however i do think scooter should have added the news about work on the new album is underway to there sites, as to me that is major news, keeps people intrested

anyway there is no point in arguing or debating, we all know that they are working on new stuff and are busywith gigs and the up coming xmas tour, so i guess we wait for some actual news and see from there

Nope. I don't think there's a single artist that uses their twitter account solely for trivialities. ;)

i like news but if its poitless stuff like we have made some progress then there is no real point of adding it to the news,

That's why they're registered with sites like twitter and Facebook, which enables them to update fans on news that doesn't necessarily qualify for submission on their official website. If they were to use their twitter account more effectively whilst in the process of working hard in the studio, we should be reading updates like "we've just completed the melody for an experimental track we're working on" or "we're currently working on the drum sequencing and it's sounding mighty good". You know, something along those lines! I'm a laymen when it comes to the manufacturing of music, but it's just a general idea of what their twitter page would look like if they do indeed deliberate to put it to good use. And this wouldn't produce any spoilers at all, as they'd be intentionally ambiguous so as to avoid giving anything away. So yeah, I think they should use it. No question. Additionally, I can't see the element of surprise been ruined either. They're not giving anything major away.

I think the new album will be targeting a David Guetta / Atzen style as this kind of music is very very popular at the moment all over europe. Scooter mentioned they are working on a new style they need to get used to and a david guetta / Atzen style is something they have never done excpet, yes except the very last remix (TSAMH electro mix)

Scooter music in Atzen style....hmmm.... it will be hard to achieve the Atzen style singing in English ;) David Guetta's style is more likely looking at the two options you mentionned ;) Maybe Scooter get the idea to also use famous singers for their chorusses, would be interesting ;)
