Under The Radar Over The Top Goes Gold!!!

Announced By Impala 27th January 2010

Following up on last year’s record haul of IMPALA Awards, IMPALA announces its latest batch of European sales awards, including upgrades for Katie Melua’s Album ‘Pictures’ to Multi Platinum and The Prodigy’s Album 'Invaders Must Die' to Double Platinum. The Arctic Monkey's Album 'Humbug' and Franz Ferdinand’s Album ‘Tonight’ have now reached Diamond, while punk rock band Dead Kennedy’s celebrate twenty years of success with a Diamond award for their album ‘Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables’. Vampire Weekend’s album ‘Contra’, the first album on a UK indie label to reach number one in the US for 20 years, is the first 2010 release to receive an award reaching Diamond in just two weeks. Other IMPALA Award winners include Benjamin Biolay (France),
Scooter (Germany), Medina (Denmark), Ojos de Brujo (Spain) and The Rasmus (Finland).

Impala Gold = 100 000

Utrott: 100,000 + In Europe:thumbsup:

you can find the list on here:

EDIT: Jumping All Over The World Multi-Platinum (1,500,000 Sales)

Great news! :)

So, UTROTT has sold 100.000 units in Europe (including Germany)!
The actual world sales are probably around 150.000 which is nothing special, but also not bad.

I don't want to be the partycrasher, but I miss the old system, where you need 300.000 sold units to reach the gold status. Today, it's too easy to get gold.

Do I understand it rightly?
JAOTW received platinum in germany and UTROTT received gold in Germany?
Or are those IMLA Awards special awards?

I wouldn't say it's easier today to reach gold status, the system was just adjusted to the sad fact that CDs are sold alot less than years ago. It's really sad that one just needs to sell a few hundred copies to enter the charts on a good position. So it maybe is even more an achievement to reach the gold status these days. But everything has it's good and bad sides.

If we would still have the "old" gold sales numbers, no one would reach gold at all, so they had to adjust the numbers to atleast make it able to sell some gold CD's ;)

The numbers are adjusted to the fact that most albums/singles are downloaded from iTunes and other internet stores.
CD sales are much lower now than before, due to the downloading hype.

I don't think it's easier. people buy less, so it's normal that bands don't sell 300.000 copies anymore...

and what about ebay (and other buyingsites)? I buy the official album but it's not counted in the official sales...
scooter,come back to belgium!!!
