My car still switches to smaller gear at 160km speed, it's a 5 speed automatic :D

The speed limits in Finland are in some highways 120, others 100 or 80 during winter. I think we should have higher limits... But will that ever happen? :P

Would love to drive the Autobahn some day 8)

Anyway, I'm not a fan of abnormal speeds. I think 90/100 km/h are enough. If one needs to get somewhere fast, just start driving earlier, and you'll arrive earlier :P

Fast driving is a great experience, especially while listening to loud Scooter music   I most of the time drive 180 km/h in Germany, but the fuel level decreases quickly :D

A bunch of guys were killed here in my hometown 2 nights ago. Lost control of the car at 140kms. 6 people were in the car and 1 survived ;( I knew two of the guys.

Just shows what a powerful car can really do when you push it too hard.

A good reason for keeping the max. speed at 100 km/h...

With 100 you can also get killed, ofcourse with 140 there's more chance, but I think when you hit a car or tree with 100 or 140, in both cases you will be killed ;) But I get your point Traxx, it's just that driving 100 is extremely boring and driving for example 140 or faster is cool somehow, and feels good ;)

I guess I'm opposite to other guys.
I just don't see the point with driving in 140-150, because it's "cool"... too high speeds easier makes you lose control over the car if something happens.

I'm actually afraid of driving in such high speed... you never know what can happen.

Wow, I'm surprised! I thought our 120km/h would be the slowest of all. I rarely drive that fast (at least consciously), but I get frustrated with 60km/h and 80km/h roads because those feel too slow. Driving faster gets one faster in to the destionation. Although admittably it's often a rather small time saving, at least with the speeds here.
 This is a signature.

140kms is the official recommended speed on the german autobahn and they always say: drive like 140kms and you're fine
what is causing crashes isn't the speed itself, but the speed difference with cars driving like 100kms or 140kms or 180kms. oh and of course idiots who are always way too fast. I know someone, who just made his drivers licence and he instantly lost it after a few days, because he drove 110kms in town (where max. speed is 50kms) :pinch:

Here's my car

It's Honda Prelude IVgen 2.0i - 136hp. It goes well only after 4000rpm, but it can go 210km/h and there's nice preety hard suspension so maybe i'm slower at straight but i can go faster than other cars at the corners. Prelude has good handling too. In 2 years i want to swap engine to JDM 200hp vtec ;) Last saturday i was driven high-speed road (high speed with 110km/h limit :D ) and there was VW Golf mkIII VR6 (174 or 190hp) and when i've tried to overtake him he speeded up and we started to race. He was a little bit faster at straights but at the corners we were head to head.

But it was only one of the few situations when it drove very fast, but in Poland we've high tickets and points (when you get 24 you lost driving license). There are a lot of police units with radars, photo-radars (sometimes 3or4 on few kilometers) and undercover police-cars with radar - one of them catch me few months ago - i drove 30km/h too fast - i've get a ticket and 6 points ;/

I always drive like 40km too fast in Poland, and still haven't got a ticket..... but I know the polices likes to control with radars very often, and they are good in hiding themselves, that's a fact, but I always use a fast car to follow and let it drive like 300m in front of me and than follow it, so that when he get's catched I have a chance to brake a bit :D :D And I know from experience people in Poland like to speed, they take the risk it seems, many of my family members do :D

Good point. It obviously depends on how fast you were going. I got caught a few months ago doing 7kms over and got fined $140 and lost one point. But I'm on a probationary license so I only get 6 points I think.

A friend of mine got caught doing 120kms in a 60kms zone. He lost all his points, his license for a year and fined $400.

Over here if you are really bad and get caught alot they eventually resort to taking your car and crushing it. But I think there have only been a couple so far.
