Scooter - trashy "Kirmestechno"

In a lot of reviews Scooter are considered to produce only trashy "Kirmestechno" (= cheap "hands up"). If you ask the reviewers what they mean with that they will answer: there is nearly the same simple beat throught all the song, there is nearly no diversity of sounds and beats and almost always the same song construction. What do you think: prejudice or truth?

In my opinion it's a prejudice. In the single-style tracks too much play with the beats and too many sounds or effects would ruin the songs. Scooter are almost perfect in producing songs with a good amount of different sounds/effects and one part fitting to the other perfectly. Especially in the house genre too much play with the beats destruct the song. Take Aquagen's "Hard to say I'm sorry" - the version of 2002 is a simple dance track, but a good party song, the 2009er version seems like a strange construction where the beats don't really support the chorus. There is also no melody in it. It's just a play with the beats mixed up with the old "Hard to say I'm sorry"-chorus. Nothing I want to hear again and again.
Beyond that, Scooter show that they know how to play with different sounds and elements especially on their former albums like Wicked, Sheffield or We bring the noise - but most of the Scooter-haters don't even know the instrumentals/experimentals on those albums.

Well, most TV/Radio moderators only really know the hit-singles from Scooter and talk only according to them, for example only based on what they think of those hit-singles. And somehow it looks like they have to say something negative about Scooter, because that's what the people want to hear.
When the journalist or moderator or media in general puts you in a certain box, it's hard to get out of it, the same is the case with some car brands. German car's are always considered good, and Italian bad, and that's not really the case anymore.

I think reviewers base their ideas on similar things like the tv moderators do, but the reviewers do hear more songs of the band, but still judge the band by it's hit-singles on an album and most of the time forget the experiments, or that the songs don't sound that bad as they say they are. And it also depends on the taste of the reviewer I recon, if one is from the start a Scooter hater, no matter how good the music is, they would still say it's bad.

EDIT:

But I'm sure that's the case with almost every band, it's just that Scooter is attacked harder than other bands. And I'm afraid that will never change, Scooter will always shock the industry, but that's also what they want to do.

they decline scooter to "kirmestechno" because they only know the songs "Hyper Hyper" "Nessaja" "One" "Maria" and maybe the latest single...

those guys never listened to something like "Crank It Up" or "Trance Atlantic"...
that's what we have to deal with. those stupid reviewers having no clue about what they talking nor do they admit that Scooter are more professional in producing than so called "musicians" like Rihanna, Lady Gaga and all those silly r'n'b artist like "Lil Wayne"...

Exactly, and they most of the time judge all Scooter accomplished and made in those 15 year's according to these tracks only. And they forget about a huge amount of great album tracks or less succesfull singles that were great also :?

Scooter singles are varying in every aspect, I don't know what those reviewers are on... Definitely no cheap hands-up. The guys work hard creating the sounds and the quality is very good. Even their oldest tracks have stood the time, I think. I can still discover new elements, sounds, arrangements when I listen to the songs... There is much to hear if one pays attention. :D But as said, some just hate it just to hate it.
 This is a signature.

Me too, sometimes I hear in old tracks sounds or sound-effects that I somehow never discovered before.

I've always loved Scooter 'cause the music isn't too easy and simply. Just listen to Coldwater Canyon or some tracks like that. Or Soultrain. Or Like Hypa said. But these tracks aren't singles so many people don't know that the best tracks from Scooter aren't the singles at all. The singles are more for live performance and the album tracks and single b-sides are more for listening. Scooter is a very pro band and the music is much more variable than many other artists' music in the same genre. And Scooter has two aspects: it's unbelievable live anct and produces great electrical music from trance to happy hc and from jungle to hardstyle and everything between. So it's variable, really. Anyone who says Scooter's music is too easy just can listen to Tonight or some other great differen Scooter song.

Only the people who buy the albums know the other aspect of Scooter's music. The singles are produced for the masses and the album tracks for the music lovers. I love the singles, but much album tracks are even better than the singles, I just say "The Chaser" , "Like Hypa Said", "We Bring The Noise","Seven Bridges","Dancing In The Moonlight", "Roll Baby Roll" etc....etc...etc.....etc... 8) 8)

"Kirmestechno" will be called all the tracks, who sounds like you hear on fun fairs in your city. That's a old stereotype of germans. (Maybe it's also a typical one in other countries)

Here are some of the tracks, who the most would sort out into this category

well said Ed! Most of the haters or the critical persons are judging Scooter based on the single releases. And yes sometimes Scooter is not ble to choose right a single... Remember in 2005,first it was planed Stripped as the 3rd single, even so The Chaser woul have been a bomb as single, and they released Suavemente..... And There are other examples too.....

Yeah exactly!! On the other hand it's people's own problem if they don't wanna listen to the albums instead of listening just to singles and judging for them. I've always liked more the album tracks than the singles. Ok, there are couple of real killers among singles and they are amazing playen live but when I sit home and listen to Scooter I love to try to discover new fave tracks from the albums. I think Scooter's albums, alla of them, really are worth of listening them again and again. If you think of many other bands from 90's the albums hardly give you anything any more after more than 10 years.

But the singles... Yes, too many people seem to know just them. Ok I understand that not everyone can be real fans but still I hope they wouldn't judge before listening to a bit something else too. That's why I don't like compilation albums with just hits from many artists but I prefer buying the whole albus so that I can see if the artist/band can really make something else too than just on great single. Then I've got better knowlege to judge.
