I must say : There is a HELL of a LOT of threads here dealing with the exact same subject, this makes me lazy to read them .... Looks like everybody wants HIS own thread to get read, right ? :?

Yes - I think you are right - unfortunately, althiough I can split topics, I can't join similar ones together. :(

We have gone though an "emotive" 7 days -I think it will start to calm down again soon though, with a few topics emerging as the most popular :)

Indeed, with phpBB forums you cannot merge threads together, I have got the same problem with mine. Before I used to have Oxygen forums, and I could merge threads, this was really great.
Thank you for your great job Sandra, this board looks great and well moderated :)

Let's hope all that flaming calms down, I know, I KNOW I mean I KNOW that Scooter will have amazing tracks on their next album, they have have it in their hands, they can do it !!!!

in the current version of phpbb forums you have a tool which lists bots' ip adressand block them. Also the registration is harder with those pictures with letters and letters.
we have this kind of tool on the FSP and we have absolutly no spam

One of the admins should download a new version here: http://www.phpbb.com/downloads.php
Current version is from 23 december 2006, so this forum is 3 years older version!

ok - thanks - I agree this is an old version, but I don't know when / if we will get upgraded.

Until then I guess its a manual job - just don't be tempted to select the links - however tempting they might sound

only sebastian can do that; and i think it's kinda urgent as it's getting worse everyday day.
It began in one thread , then all the threads followed; now bots post in every topic and we get viruses and adwares :?

we will have to wait and see what happens - until then we will delete them as soon as we can. The first thing I do now when I log-on is read every post since I was last on-line looking for them, but of course it takes time, and its possible to miss one.

I spoke with Sebastian earlier this week about it as the problem has got a lot worse recently, but I think everyone is very busy just now with the new release comomg soon :)

Just don't select those links :!:

And again such link. :(

I have forgotten how it is if someone join as new member on this forum.
Is it mabe possible to make it harder?

I know by Sandras forum I must wait for a mail and reply on it to activate the account.

I think spammers don't take the time if it is not so easy to make a new account.

yes it can be harder ; for instance you can register but the admin have to manually activate your account so that you could post.
there are many other possibilities

On this forum you get an email activation as well - I tried it a while ago because i couldn't remember.

I doubt Sebastian would have time to manually activate all new accounts though :?

a conversation already had once or twice....

I know on the old forum (the one before this one) mods could do this sort of thing, but here we are very limited, all we can do to this spam is delete it when it appear.

The other thing I would love to be able to do is delete some of the web-links in some "members" profiles.
