The unwritten rule!

It is really annoying when you Germans start to post german into topics which are already started in english. Let's try to respect this unwritten rule and keep writing in that language in which topic is started.

At least put translations if the voice in your head doesn't allow you to write in english... :|

I understand pretty much German, but I agree that it's annoying when English topics transform into German ones. :)
And in fact: It's not an unwritten rule. Just check out the rules posted by Sebastian. It's "illegal" to start posting on German if the topics are started in English. :|

Exactly, I also understand German, but when somebody starts to talk in the middle of English topic in German, it's very annoying.Beside that, some members talk about other members in German, so they wouldn't understand them.Easy.

At least I couldn't found that rule. Other languages were forbidden though. But I have to agree that it's annoying to see german in topics originally written in english. Especially about subjects that aren't closly connected to Germany (eurovision topic...).

But I also want to say that admins and mods should follow those rules. There have been lot of spam, big quotes, wrong languages and insulting in these forums lately. And nothing is done. Maybe more mods to control forums?

Our mods are too mild concerning these things (spamming, quotes,...) and too strict concerning not being nice to Scooter...I said that some time ago, but a regime on this forum is such, as it was in former Yugoslavia-you better agree with everything and you'll be fine, you disagree and you'll end up dead.

And there are too many mods on this forum, because male part of them is completely inactive, I almost never see them on forum.Replacement of certain mods or add new ones sounds fine.

Aah. It is good thing that someone takes care about her job :wink:

But I there are insulting. I have also insulted other members lately when i have posted without considering. I'm not the only one. And well you can't say that some part of WTD's and HR's posts wouldn't be sensless spam.

There haven't been so much using wrong languages lately though.

@Buthcer Yep. Would be nice to change those inactive mods. Big question still is who would be chosen as new mods. I mean it can't be someone who gets angry when someone says bad about Scooter or maybe not even someone like me.

I've been thinking about this - and must confess that I sometime post in English in a German topic myself :oops: The reason I do this is that while I can understand what is written in the German topics (well - just about) there is no way I could reply in German :? , and if I really want to say something I just have to do so however I can.

Maybe this is sometimes the case for those who reply in English topics in German - we are not all great at languages you know :oops: :wink: ......of corse its different if its done just to annoy...

and there are people like you Sandra, who do understand English, but are not great at languages either, so they reply in germna hoping most people will understand them...It's difficult to find a compromise with so many different people and I doubt this topic will actually change something in some member's behaviour

Thats why I never delete a German post in an English topic (but there are some who do it who have very good English).

Also because I know how had it is for some people to post in a non-native langage I do tend to delete posts that critise posts that are maybe not so well written, or make fun of it - that mahes me very angry :wink:

Yes, nobody should be laughes at because of his lower language level...the authors of those posts deserve serious warnings.

About writing german again: I think you all know that people often can't really express what they want in another language or do not feel confident enough or are just too stressed to take the time to translate what they hav written/want to say. i think you all know at least one of those feelings and can consider it from another point of view as well instead of genreally critisising people. Rather pick those who really know English and do not respond on translation requests

My english isn't perfect but still I try to write it. And I understand that someones in this forum don't speak or understand English very well.

But I don't understand that when we're having a good conversation and then someone writes few lines in german and after that the next 12 answers is in german... That is really annoying :?

I agree its annoying especialy if it stay in German!

Its great when sometimes our German friends who are good with English help with translation for us and get atopic back to English.

I don't think someone should be excluded from a discussion because they don't speak English - put one German post should not be an excuse to turn the rest of the topic German

Have been thinking about that a lot and I must agree completely with this. And I don't even understand german at all so it's kind of like if there's two or more message in german in row (in an topic started with english of course), it can even make me forget about the topic completely and get away from it. It can be interesting as long as it starts to be in many different languages, even starting to be finnish in an english topic makes me annoying.

I don't know if I get things too seriously or something so I just go away when it starts to get annoying.

You are right.
The best were if the whole forum is in English only, like it was all time in the past.
Maybe with a German section instead of the English section.
I will watch more careful about this in the future.

I see no problem with a bit fun and spam in User Topics.
But last time are often topics which must be deleted, I am sure that they are from a new user with many different names. :roll:
Good if not many members have seen them. :roll:

But it maybe woudl not make much sense to delete him, next day he is here with another name. :roll:
