A State Of Trance

Anybody out there a fan of Armin Van Buuren's A State Of Trance shows? I think they are bloody brilliant. Perfect way to keep up-to-date with all the latest trance.

I've been collecting them for a while now, but recently i came across a torrent for ALL the shows from 2005. So i have 59 episodes now. Feckin' brilliant.

Anybody else a fan?

I have listened all episodes of A State Of Trance since Episode 203 (it was from june 2005 if I remember right), so you may consider me as a fan. Armin plays sometimes awesome sets and there are sometimes couple of really nice tunes. A Boy Called Joni - Green Astronauts today for an example.
Waiting for albums from Way Out West, Sasha, Second Sun, Airwave, BT, Quivver, Pendulum, Solarstone, Röyksopp and Massive Attack

I checked tracklist of that show and now I remember that it was pretty good one.

Sold Out vs. Nova - Maybe Tomorrow (Nova Remix)
Mark Otten - So Serene (Menno De Jong's Heading South Dub Mix)
Elevation - Ocean Rain (Robert Nickson Remix)
Airbase - Escape
Ronski Speed with Stoneface & Terminal - Incognition
Marco V - False Light
Kuffdam & Plant - Dream Maker

Those are great tunes.

Aaaah.

Well, in my view you don't need hard music all the time. Trance is great to relax to. You need something a bit more soothing every now and then. I find ASOT episodes are good to listen to while working as they aren't too distracting but create a nice mood.

The only song I quite like is Sail, the rest just isn't my style and, like DFS, I think it's to light

We aren't talking about Armin Van Buuren's productions (even though, in the main they are very good) ... we are talking about his radio shows. And ASOT shows are light... but no lighter than Mesmerized, Suffix, or Trip To Nowhere - And i'm sure DFS love those tracks, being a Scooter fan and all.

ASOT = the ultimate in music. Full stop. Simply amazing sets they showcase all the best trance has to offer. Everyone go and check it out. Now. It might not be mindless doof doof, but that doesnt mean you cant listen to it.

lol - i could have guessed your response simply from your user name, my friend. Tracking Treasure Down is a brilliant track, a personally fav of mine, especially at the moment.

Oh, and i've just downloaded yesterday's episode of ASOT. Haven't listened to it yet but it'll go into the collection and when i call upon it for a night of dance treatment i'm sure it won't let me down. That's 60 episodes now. Over 5 continious days of ASOT. :D

Overall, pound for pound, i prefer Hard Trance aswell. Faster, more energetic, harder hitting.

Trance creates an entirely different atmosphere to Hard Dance. It depends what atmosphere you want to create. When i'm relaxing, trying to unwind, working or just looking for some background music i don't want more energy, i don't want to be hit hard.

Nothing flows quite like a ASOT episode.
