Pitchshifter, pjad_uk, i totally agree with you. Just look also on Watch out!! Its their own powerful hard track, one of the best! I'm sure they worked harder on tracks in the past. I hope they'll think about their future

Why don't H.P, Rick & Jay just sit down and produce a 100% original single? They can do it. I don't even mind if the song contains one small borrowed voice sample or kick or something. But at least write an original melody for once.

Mhh that's the question i ask myself all the time. Maybe they are to lazy or they aren't able to produce own tracks with new team? But I think the first reason is the answer.

Nothing is official confirmed yet, but i don't have much hope that they finally start up with a own single. But what the hell they are doing at studio all the time? Just searching for possible cover tracks and re-building of this? I mean isn't there anybody which aspire to compose own melodies, ideas and tracks sometimes? I thought this is the sense of a band.

But who can proof us that they are really working in their studio? It can't take so long.... I remember interviews from March where they told us that they were working on new stuff. Are they working 5 month on a new single? I don't believe that. I see H. P. making some model stuff, going with his girlfriend to fotosessions, Jay is DJing.... they are making perfomances on big events. I think they are making holidays instead of working.
Side by side we are the dangerous crew!

It can't take so long....

That's the problem as far as i can see... it doesn't take as long as it should take.

I use this example all the time but look at Bomfunk MC's. They've been in the business for 6 years now (since 1999)... in that time they've done 3 albums. Not 5 or 6.... 3. Why? Because they take their time. They experiment... they compose... they bounce idea of each other. Making an album becomes a meticulous process and the final product is a record unique to the band rather than a "remixes compilation" with the band's name on it...

Ok, if you hate Bomfunk enough to ignore my example, look at Röyksopp. Melody A.M. (which is widely regarded as one of the greatest electronic chillout albums EVER released) was released in 2002. The new album, The Understanding, only came out this year (2005!).

Now you may much prefer Scooter's music to Bomfunk's or Röyksopp's ... You may believe that Scooter are a bigger name than Bomfunk MC's or Röyksopp. You may say that these 3 bands are totally different... you'd be right. But i would argue that Norway's masters of chillout and Finland's kings of funk and electro command a lot more respect from the music industry than Germany's champions of Stadium Techno... why? ... you know why!

:!:

Weekend, One, Jigga Jigga, The Night, Maria... they're all fantastic tracks but they're not 100% Scooter... not in the same way that Freestyler or Live Your Life are 100% Bomfunk... or that Eple or Triumphant are 100% Röyksopp.

Yes that's what I said in past already. H.P. is doing his own private thing like modeling, going out with girlfriend, parties, gala dinners... Jay is DJing all the time...
And if they not doing this Scooter is performing at a event. So when should they spend much time together in studio to work together on new songs?

I think nobody works so hard and long in studio like in past anymore. They're getting lazy in studio that's the problem of creative/musical downfall of Scooter. And Nessaja said single is already finished, but they are making holidays before release. As you can see Scooter is just secondary important for the guys in the meantime. They don't stress themselves anymore just because of Scooter. Scooter is just their business now, not like in past a band with dreams and ambition. And they use this commercial product now to make fast money with it.

Hummmm I don't say that this news of Paul Van Dyk and Gigi are not real but...

It's hard to believe.

Anyway, if it's true certainly will be a great single.

Please explain.

As for not creating an 100% original style, didn't say something like they were just modelling their stuff as the KLF did before them. The KLF took songs that no one ever thought would be dance songs and Boom! There they were. I think that's what the entire idea behind Scooter was in the first place, whether we like it.

Then again, Scooter's 100% original stuff isn't fool-proof either (ie: "Psycho", "Main Floor").

I don't think many of the fans have a problem with Scooter taking old non-dance songs and revamping them into new concepts. I think most fans would accept that RAMP! (The Logical Song) was a pretty damn good idea that showed a lot of talent and intelligent thinking. The same goes for tracks like Rebel Yell, The Age Of Love, Nessaja etc.

The main problem is tracks like Jigga Jigga, Maria, Weekend, The Night and more recently One, Panties Wanted, Trance-Atlantic, My Eyes Are Dry, etc. All are hot tracks but none of them show any real originality. Just an ability to remix or glue melodies together. These tracks are almost the Scr*pheap Challenge of music making. Go out into the junk yard of previously used melodies, find the ready made parts and put it together to make it work. Compared with real music composition that isn't proper music making.

   I'm talking shit and you have high quality news? Will you allow me to laugh? Before the release of TSTE everyone posted stupid news about the tracklist of "the new album" containing never released songs like "Neverdie", "The Banana Bout Song" or "Hyper hyper 2003/2004/2005/2006". And NO ONE of you made good speculations- news about songs like "Neverdie" were pure shit and no high quality news.
I propose to stop each speculation and close this topic, because instead of talking shit and spreading a bad mood (developer) we should wait until we receive news from official people. Only Scooter know (I hope so at least) what they're planning and you can't explain to me that you have more knowledge about Scooter's plans than anyone else here. My news could perhaps be true, but the "Nothing but you"-parts could also be used by an Italo DJ from ZYX MEDIA who is produced by DJ Pandolfi, Luca Noise or Gigi D'Agostino. Pandolfi also produced "Goodnight" with parts of the German "1, 2 Polizei", so it could be also possible that one of them knows van Dyk's "Nothing but you" and creates an Itlao Dance single based on it. "The Guess Who" could be a pseudonyme used by anyone- or it could be a wrong pseudonyme, who knows? I've only said that rights I've been reserved, but I don't know if they are reserved by Scooter

@Mr Hyper - Just ignore HotRemix

He's one of the most obvious sh*t stirrers i have come across in recent times in this forum... either that or he has the IQ of a pebble.

There's no need to close this topic... this is actually one of the most productive and interesting discussions i've read in a good while.

@ pjad_uk

since ramp! it went down. Most of the people don't know it but in september 2001 a project called 'solid solution' (later sonic solutions) reached #1 in belgium with 'the logical song'. it was kinda a jump-style record that sounds much better than ramp! Scooter just stole the idea of covering the logical song. the only reason why the scooter version reaches more countries is because their name was in most of the countries already made and solid solution just started.
that's why it makes me sad that new fans just praise the band for what they have done the last years. In my opinion the latest good scootersingle was posse cause it sounds fresh, stolen lyrics and melodies or not.
scooter,come back to belgium!!!

This "solid solutions" project is news to me...

But i'm not gonna be drawn into criticising RAMP! Any Scooter track that is very much based on original material (which the likes of Ramp!, Nessaja, Posse, Aiii Shot The DJ, FHS etc are) i have no problem with. Yeah, all such tracks have bits that are borrowed but they all have 100% original parts too.

I'd just prefer it if Scooter didn't just take two or, in the case of Jigga Jigga, three melodies from other artists and just remix it so it all fits together. Or as we have seen on MTG (or so i've been told) Scooter have copied entire tracks, such as Panties Wanted and just put H.P lyrics to them. I'd rather they didn't do that either.

Good, self-written melodies/songs done by Scooter:

- Friends (the melody in the single version)
-Trancendental (wonderful, heavenly melody!)
-Rhapsody in E (Piano Parts)
- Fire/The Revolution/Hands up! (guitar melodies)
- Posse (good old rave voice)
-Like Hypa said (trance melody and female voice)
-Soultrain (sounds a bit like the music of the Ice Level "Pendrana Drifts" in Metroid Prime, but nevertheless good, original melody)

as you see: Scooter CAN produce songs with catching melodies

Exactly... and that's what some fans what to see Scooter producing all the time.

The two original melodies that i would point to as undisputed proof of Scooter's abilities would be 'Zebras Crossing The Street' and 'Coldwater Canyon'. Both instrumentals of the highest order. Both, as far as i know, original.

The guitar-riff in Fire is very very similiar that is found in SNES-game Super Punch Out's Nick Bruiser's theme (last opponent), the game was released in 1994
